Thinking about buying it through Steam (only $19.99!). Also, is the game well optimized?

Depends if you REALLY like RPGS.
If you do then get off this page and move your ass to the buy button!
What about the second question? It's not really the best when it comes to optimization. It's fine though.[QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"]That's a very stupid question man. Of course it is! : PLox_Cropek
Best rpg on the last 5 years. Exluding that other game.... you know which one i am talking about. Also, it will run awesomely on 8800gt. Actually it run very wellon 8600 gt apart from some areas that suffered masssive fps loss. Get the EE not the vanilla game.dakan45i have a 9600 GT 1 GB so i think that's fine right?
Get the EE not the vanilla game.dakan45If you have a paid version of the vanilla game, you can get the EE content as a free patch on the developer's website. Just register it with your CD key so you can prove to them you own the game, and get downloading. Not sure how that would work with a Steam version... but I'm sure their very large forum community would know. :)
i have a 9600 GT 1 GB so i think that's fine right? Hmm with my old 8600 gt 1024mb i played the game fine till i got to the swamps when it lag the hell out of everything for some reason. Since 9600=8600, i wouldnt say it wiill be fine. The game will play well but at some parts it will lag terribly like memory leak. Or atleast that was my epxeriance.[QUOTE="dakan45"]Best rpg on the last 5 years. Exluding that other game.... you know which one i am talking about. Also, it will run awesomely on 8800gt. I seem to be in the minority here. I bought the Director's Cut from Steam, on hype, for around $13 during the holiday sale. I'm glad that's all I paid for it because I really didn't enjoy it. I can't believe all the hype this game gets. I assume the sex cards must have something to do with it. I didn't find them thrilling at all.
I still haven't finished the game. I doubt I ever will. I like good RPGs, but this one is full of a lot of ridiculous running around for very small gains. The combat is clunky and there are only about a half dozen, or so, NPC character models (aside from plot sensitive characters).

Steam only has the Enhanced Edition version Go for it. Disclaimer: If you don't like RPGs with deep story and complex characters, who flaunt their M-rating with more pride than ayone's done since Fallout 2, you might not like it. It's not for everyone. THose who like it tend to love it though. :)[QUOTE="ChiliDragon"][QUOTE="dakan45"] If you have a paid version of the vanilla game, you can get the EE content as a free patch on the developer's website. Most female gamers I know seem to like Geralt, now that I think about it... must be the eyes and all black leather. :P

Did you get to chapter 3? that could be the reason. Chapter 1 isn't really all that interesting.... and is extremely long. It really more of a tutorial than anything else. And Chapter 2 is kinda unfocused. Chapter 3 is when things start coming together.I seem to be in the minority here. Maybe even a bundle..? :)I'm holding out for the hope that Steam throws Witcher up into a sale when the sequel nears...

Once I became used to the mouse clicks, combat was fine. By Chapter 4, I could kill 5 wolves in one round, since I put a lot into developing the Fast Steel stat.I seem to be in the minority here.
