I have given little thought to this issue until now. I have a logitech keyboard and a regular laser mouse. If there is can you post some links so I can get a idea of what to get. Thanks.

Most of my life I have just stuck with cheap normal mice and keyboard, but with my latest build i decided to get some nice stuff.

I picked up a Reaper 1600 DPI Optical Gaming Mouse and im loving it!

Also for my keyboard i got a Microsoft Comfort Curve keyboard and loving it aswell!
I dont think ill ever go back to a cheap mouse or keyboard again :P

The keyboard is alot more comfortable, at least to me. And the Mouse definatly is mroe efficient compared to what i had before.

As most everyone has said here, a high DPI gaming mouse helps, faster more accurate movement, the extra buttons help to map commands too. I'm using a 2000DPI Razer Copperhead right now. Adjustable sensitivity on the fly is nice as well. As for keyboard, I usually just get something that is illuminated so it's easy to see at all times. Right now I'm using a Razer Lycosa keyboard, it has more features than I use, but the rubberized low profile keys are nice and the illumination looks nice. I also like the headphone and microphone jacks and the USB jack on the keyboard.

I use a cheap $15 logitech keyboard and have never had any problems with it. But my mouse is a Razer Deathadder and it makes me sad when I have to use regular mice on other computers.

I'd recommend looking around for a Logitech MX518, fantastic little piece of equipment for the price

I've been gaming with a Logitech Trackman since they came out, and I've never looked back. It's not the most accurate mouse out there, but it's fantastic for me! :)

the keyboard make next ot no difference and a decent 5 button mouse is worth it over a standard one but you don't need to buy the $150 mouse.

It's definitely worth paying up for a mouse with no negative acceleration issues (which cheap optical mice tend to suffer from; if you move the mouse very fast in one direction, it sometimes moves the OTHER way), tons of extra buttons for game binds (particularly things like melee attacks, throwing grenades, bringing up the sights/zooming in, changing fire mode, etc.), on-the-fly sensitivity switching, etc. As for a keyboard, I'd put more emphasis on ergonomics-in particular, how each key feels as you press it. This does NOT necessarily mean one of those curved "natural" keyboards, though you may very well end up preferring one of those. In my case, I use an old IBM Model M 1391401. No backlights, no LCD, no anti-ghosting/N-key rollover, no macro keys-hell, it doesn't even have Windows keys. But, after experiencing the joy that is a keyboard equipped with buckling-spring keyswitches, I refuse to consider anything that isn't a mechanical keyboard of some sort now. In short, I like my keys to have a long throw, a "click" or slight change of resistance in the middle, and some overtravel so I don't have to bottom out hard in order to send the signal. However, you may hate the "clicky" noise and prefer short-throw laptop-style keys for all I know.

Mouse: Yes Keyboard: No, though as you're a heavy user you will see the advantage of a good quality keyboard but whether it's a gaming board or not dosn't matter.

Meh, that type of keyboard dosn't interest me, i want something rugged maybe with a bit of antighosting but build quality comes top. You should have a look at the Steelseries 7G and Deck keyboards.

Get a decent mouse such as a g5 or deathadder. But keyboards don't really matter. All you get from a gaming keyboard is backlights, usb ports and macro keys.

You just need a mouse you're comfortable with, same as the keyboard. I would strongly suggest that you try getting used to using an ergonomically correct keyboard - I've been using one for the past 4-5 years and I don't have to worry about straining my wrist on my left hand by cocking it at a funny angle to use the WASD keys. My hand just rests naturally at those keys on my keyboard; I don't have anymore wrist pain. In the end, it's all what you're comfortable with. This is just my suggestion

You've got a point that Razer mice are overpriced, that being said, I own a Razer Lycosa keyboard and Copperhead mouse and I love them both.

I have a Logitech G15 keyboard and I absolutely love it. I have Everest running and showing CPU, GPU, RAM, other temps, etc on the built in LCD on the keyboard. Its a great tool for benchmarking and checking stats like that while gaming.

Logitech G5 gaming mouse is a very nice gaming mouse with high repsonse and nice feel. Like how you can put the weights in it to suit your feel. In terms of keyboards, if you lan a lot with not much lighting, then an illuminated keyboard does help. The Logitech G15 is a good keyboard. Try to find revision 1 over revision 2. Prefer rev 1 which had blue illumination compared to the ugly orange in rev2. The macro keys you can bind to each game are near the WASD keys which makes instant weapon changing etc very easy and quick, once you get used to it. And no I don't work for Logitech, I just have been using these models for a long time now without a problem.

MX518 mouse. Don't need anything else really.

Keyboards, meh... I really don't think it's worth it to buy an expensive keyboard, no.

If you got a crap one then yes, but still not expensive. Maybe $50.

I've got a logitech G5 and a G15... i bought them together, i would never game with any other mouse it is so much better than a regular mouse and the extra buttons come in handy in certain games as for the G15 i tend to use the macros quite a bit and i absolutley love it's Display for monitoring temps, ram / cpu usage ect during games for that feature only i would buy it again if mine broke...

Unless you have a super high resolution monitor that doesn't exist yet, then the extra buttons are the only advantage. I move my Microsoft wireless mouse and it moves from pixel to pixel, without skipping any. Now build quality, that's a whole other issue. I went through 3 of these Wireless desktop Microsoft sets before I figured out it was just the USB plug causing them to fail. I snipped the USB plug off the end a couple of years ago and installed a new one. I haven't had a problem since...
