I saw an interview with Gabe Newell a couple of months ago and he said right now there is no plan to make another CS, but if he were to get like 10,000 emails saying that they should make another, they'd definitely consider it.
rly cause i heard on the GS news section that they MIGHT make another one with a new engine. there was a screen too. i dont know but it rly doesnt matter to me. im just saying what i read and saw.
It's popular but there SHOULD be a sequel. If people have to use the command console to put in cl_cmdrates and cl_interp and crap like that.......it's not perfect. The player shouldn't have to deal with that. The game shouldn't even have the hitbox problems in the first place. It makes XBL host issues look good. There's also the problem where 90% of the players use the same 3-4 weapons. Don't say its not a problem, if there are around 30 weapons in a game and only 3-4 are being used then the weapons obviously need to be tweaked.

Counter-Strike, both 1.6 and CSS, is hugely popular. Hugely popular = hugely profitable. Valve is a cool company with a large number of IPs to choose from, and that number is growing fast so it's not like their hand is forced, but why would they not make a new CS is the real question?
Frankly, I think a new CS is already in development, or is planned, as a showcase for the next iteration of Source.

that would be amazing if that was the new screen. the day games get that realistic... i don't even know.
I'm predicting that either a new Counter-Strike or a major update to Counter-Strike: Source will be released later this year. It'll probably be shown when they release new info on HL2: Episode 3.
In a recent interview CS2 was mentioned or what was mentioned is that they are thinking about it. The problem they have is whether to do what they did with source and make CS prettier or do an overhaul like they did with TF2. I believe right now Valve is leaning torwards making something new and fresh like TF2. Ofcourse that in no way means that CS2 will be cartoony.
I mean the near future. Considering Source came out in 2004, isn't it about time for a new installment? Anybody know of any news about a new CS?nicknees93
Do we need another? Source really wasn't a new one it was an upgrade.
