I can think of nothing funner than gathering oil, steel, rubber, and building world war 2 style tanks, battleships, and war planes; in a Starcraft or Command & Conquer type format, i.e. a Real Time Strategy Game using World War II units.

Please, if you know of a game fitting this description, please email me at messy.kisser@yahoo.com , or contact me via gamespot account.

Thanks a lot

Company of Heroes, one of the best, if not the best, rts of the last 5 years.

I can't think of any with battleships (if you find one, let me know). CoH is the best WWII RTS and one of my favorite RTSs ever.

CoH is a great rts, but it doesn't really fit your description -- you don't gather resources like you do in the more traditional rts. it's a matter of capturing and holding resource points, and managing your expenditure effectively.

i would recommend Rise of Nations instead. it expands on and refines the genre familiar conventions, and its enormous scale is simply breathtaking.

Company of Heroes and Battlestations: Midway will suit your needs very well. Though if you want hold of on Midway for a bit as Battlestation: Pacific will be out sometime this year and looks like a vast improvement over Midway.

Company of Heroes plays nothing like you described, however it is the best World War 2 strategy game going.

If you want a World War 2 game like that, I say Warfront: Turning Point. It's World War 2, with a twist (experimental units etc.) and it plays pretty much exactly like Command and Conquer Generals.

I dunno, I'd recommend CoH but it doesn't quite fit your description.
