after playing for about 40 hours i still come in pretty low, though now i come in about half leader board about half of the time. i just dont quite have a handle of how you're supposed to shoot. like, i get that the ak should never be fired in more then 3 round bursts unless spraying and praying, but i still just can't seem to nail headshots with other weapons no matter how hard i aim at their heads. any video tutorials and tips and what not?

Well you could try using an N64 controller :P

Seriously though, turn off mouse acceleration. I know a lot of people who don't do that, and its pretty helpful for giving you more personal control. Also try experimenting with different weapons and playstyles, if you aren't good at rushing, then try more defensive play.

I play CSS on occasion so I'm not the best for advice, but that's whats helped me.

Tears back when i started i used to get killed all over the place now im kinda decent at least. i can hold my own against some of the vets on most days...my advice is to get in a gungame match so you can get familiar with the guns and how they work to get a feel for it pretty well.

Don't bother. These guys are playing the game 24/7. I mean. they could headshot you with a glock from the opposite side of the map.

Don't be sarcastic. I was just making fun. Counter Strike is a great game, but in my opinion, you can't get better at it in any other way than just playing it.

Practice vs bots, then practise vs humans, over and over.

Its just one game that takes TIME to get really good. As Counterstrike games have been around for YEARS and there are alot of good players who have played each version and know the games inside out.

Put in hundreds upon hundreds of more hours. You might very well be playing with people who have been playing for 6+ years.

Practising with bots is a waste of time. Best way of training is to spend ur days in cs_office, u'll have the most fun there. Also you can try deathmatch servers.

It's like any other game you just need to practice and learn the maps. Some people are just better at twitch shooters then others it's nothing you can do about getting owned time and time again, everyone has really bad games and really good games don't play to be the best just play to have fun. cheers

Gungame and deathmatch servers for praticing aim. Playing against bots is a waste of time, it feels slightly different on a real server with the tiny bit of latency you always have. I'd have to say though, don't bother trying to learn to use all the guns. Stick with USP, glock, deagle, mp5, colt, ak, awp and maybe scout. I played CS rather seriously a few years ago (tournaments and leagues) and most of the time you don't want to waste money on semi useful guns. Get good with pistols so you can use them and save for a good gun. The mp5 is also a borderline case if you ask me, usually it's better to save up for ak/colt. And one more thing, use flashes. You should in pretty much every round have at least one.

As others have said, constant practice. CS is not a game that you can play on and off or for 30 minutes a day and expect to get good at it. It takes a lot of time and perseverance. Even though it sucks to be killed all the time (I know because I along with everyone else started with the game somewhere) you have to have patience and hang in there and keep trying.

Practice! It's really simple actually. Just play and have fun. Skill will come naturally. Before you know it - you'll be getting headshots constantly. Just keep aiming for the head bud, you'll nail it.

IMO for a brand new player, starting with Bots is best way, slowely get them to understand teh controls and maps. Then non stop against others online, ive heard it from many CS vets to.

Its simply all about practise, some people who are new to the series might nto be able to handle games vs players there first games (ive heard people say this to), so some begining matches vs bots is a great way to learn basics of hte game before jumping into the shark tank.

When I first started playing Counter-Strike and Team Fortress Classic, I only played with a keyboard. Not sure how I pulled that off, but I wasn't all that bad in the game. :? Just keep playing, you'll get better.

Yea, it was a habit from playing Doom, Hexen, and all the other FPS games back in the day where there was no need to look up or down. Old habits die hard i suppose :).

This^. Playing a game for that long these guys and gals know just about every noob tactic, hiding spot, and every situation that could possibly happen. They also have the accuracy to pop you in the head from any where on the map, doesn't matter how much you heads poking out! They also do it before you can blink .

I've logged in about 150 hrs so far. I love the gun play, I'm getting better I have about -2000 deaths but what ever lmao. I suggest playing gun game. Or find a server with a nice map rotation. the only way you can get experience is by dying :P.

I'm going to log in a bunch more hours in CS:GO as it will be like a fresh start for me.

Hug corners when strafing in and out of cover. Too many players actually stand away from the wall which gives them less time to get back behind the wall to avoid enemy fire. As standing away from a wall gives opponents a 90 degree angle to shoot them whilst they're moving back.

lol to be pro at css like me ofc you just need to be able to aim, it is all aim no brain Also crouch spraying WORKS against noobs, even can get away with it against 1337 ppl like me, but it can fail, but almost always works against teh nubs(like you) Ak47 you spray at their bottom right foot if you are crouch spraying, easier way is just to crouch spray at a blank wall and see where the bullet hit.

office is my fav if on ct let whole team die until you solo it as 1 man against 10 t's because you have the aim of a true warrior or if you are T use amazing headphones and surprise every ct
