Well there are a few trials available such as for WOW and SWG. Guild Wars doesn't have any demo as far I know and LOTOR had a trial for the game a few weeks before the launch, but now unless you get a buddy key from a friend your pretty much out of luck.

And no you can't play the FFXI PS2 version on the PC.

LOTRO has 7-day buddy key trial. Everyone who buys the game gets a buddy key to give to a friend.

You can get Guild Wars trial from some stores: http://www.guildwars.com/support/gamecontents/trilogytrial.php

No idea about FFXI.

I made some research and found out that there's no trial for FFXI.

I think GameStop sells trials of WoW for two bucks. Or sometimes WoW trials magically appear. My brother has the Burning Crusade demo; I don't know how he got it, but I know he didn't pay.

You can try the free mmo Navy Field, but for WoW, you can download it off their site. For free, but it takes awhile to download.

Yeah WoW has an offer that allows a week of gameplay in The Burning Crusade. You can do everything except level to 61 lol.

There are a number of MMO's that have free trial periods. EVE online has a 14 day trial. Some have unlimited play but restrict your ability to level or use certain skills or items. Anarch Online is a good example of this. Check out MMORPG.com to look over a list of free trial based MMO's.
