I mean no SLI or Crossfire. One single card that can run it on very high at around 25-30 fps.

Im guessing my BFG 8600 OC 512mb wont run it at all then...or can I turn it down a little and get away with it?ArcticCat500You have enough vRAM for the job, but the GPU's not really strong enough to make use of it. You'll have to say what resolution you want to run it in before any of us can give more concrete advice on what to do.
Depends on the resolution. For something high enough to appreciate all the graphical details the game has? Hell to the no. Can't even run Crysis fluidly on a tri-SLI of 8800 Ultra's right now. What makes you think a single card would fare any better?codezer0
My 8800GT runs crysis with very high settings DX9 with 25-30 FPS at 1280x960. Heck I got 20+ FPS even with some AA on. If I play at 1024x768 its mostly 30+.
The 8800GTS 512mb is a few frames faster than that, so i'd bet an 8800GTS 512mb with a nice overclock could run very high settings in 1280x1024 at around 25-30 FPS easily.
Its true though, if you want to play on a big monitor, you won't be playing with very high settings smoothly on a single card.

you can turn down the settings of things to medium and some settings to high and get decent frames.....I hate people who dis the 8600 and say that it wont run crysis at all

The ultra is the fastest single card and i bet it would be owned running crysis in vista on very high with 4xAA and 16xAF at 12x10.I think the ultra will do the job at 10x7 maybe and the XP hack maybe at 12x10.However even if i had an ultra i may just run high settings and a nice high resolution cuz very high settings are incredibly overrated atleast IMO.
With a 8800GTS 640MB @ 640/1700/900, I run it at 25FPS average on very high at 1280x768 res pretty much fine all the way through the game including the alien levels.
