i Am stuck between two monitors atm.

One is LED and one is LCD. I know that the lcd (samsung) has better colour reproduction where as the LED (LG) has a slight blue tint.

Has anyone had any personall experience with these monitors. There are few monitors in my range with the features i want.

Which one is better out of the following? (i will be at work in a 2-3 hours so may not reply soon)

Samsung LCD

LG LED

Asus LCD

i will mainly use it for Documents, Gaming, Video/Photo editing. I am on a very tight budget for the mointor so no suggestions >£175-£180

Thanks in advance :)

In general, anyone that has any of those 3 monitors will tell you exactly the same thing "I have X and it's really good!" Very, very few people have would have owned more than one of them to give you any kind of comparison.

Having said that, im going to make your life more complicated by recommending a BenQ VW2420H. Why? Because its one of the cheapest VA LED panels. VA > TN panels - all of the ones you presented were TN panels.

Theres a huge amount of subjectivity with monitors. If you're very attuned to CRT's refresh rate, then any LCD will seem slow by comparison. I think you'll get used it. I would only really worry about response times being higher than 12ms. Below that and its fine, in my opinion.

Since this seems to be the first time owning an LCD theres alot of information and it makes comparisons difficult to do between CRT and LCDs. But to answer your question, VA is the type of panel technology; LED is the type of lighting behind it. Its akin to the glass on a CRT being VA and the rays being LED.

All cheap LCD (in this case $300 USD or less, so the majorit of LCDs out there) will use TN panels; TN panels are the fastest panels but offer the worst color reproduction and worst vieweing angles. VA panels have the best contrast and viewing angles and better colors than TN, but are the slowest. IPS panels have the best colors but are slower than TN panels and much more expensive. A "cheap" IPS panel will run you atleast 250 British Pounds. VA panels are middle of the road when it comes to advantages/disadvantages and price. If a monitor doesn't specify its panel type, its usually safe to assume its a TN panel.

All three panel types may or may not be CCFL (traditional LCD lighting) or LED lighting. LED is usually superior in that it allows thinner panels with less power consumption and higher brightness. If a monitor does not list its lighting type, its usually safe to assume its a CCFL type.

If you're interested in learning even more about LCD technologies along with some of the most thorough and indepth reviews i've ever seen of any monitors, check out http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/

Hey, OP. How about this? It's the monitor that I have; I just got it yesterday. It's a 24", LED backlit, Full 1080P monitor. It only cost me $220.00 (approximately 158 Euros).

What do you think about it? I love it thus far; it's much better than the 26", 1366x768, HDTV I was using before it. My games look so much better. However, I will admit that it does have its drawbacks. For example, if you want to switch to another form of input (HDMI to DVI, etc), there must be a signal from the current source of output before you switch. If there's no signal from the current source of input, then you can't switch. What this means is that if I want to switch from DVI, which I use for my PC, to HDMI, which I use for my PS3, I have to turn the PC off AFTER I've switched to HDMI. I also don't like the fact that the display automatically briefly shuts off when it stops receiving an input signal; it does this whenever I launch a game or whenever I switch between the game window to another window. It's only for a brief moment, but it's still annoying. However, over all, it's a great monitor. I love the higher resolution it offers (1920x1080), the crisper image quality, and the bright backlight.

Thanks for the input :) I don't like samsung so was hoping it wasn't as good as the others had a samsung synccmaster hd2333 an its shocking. stuck with my crt. But i wanna keep the budget on the monitor low so i can build a better rig. gonna have at least two monitors.
