http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5267781&CatId=3649So with bing casback it's about $260. I know this isn't the best though we have a old crt that's 26 and itis plenty big enough for our family room. Anyways when the kid's move out I'll get a nice LED, when the prices go down. Thoughts?I really justwant a cheaper lcd under $300. Thanks for your help.

I'd say at least 32 inches for fair immersion. 37-42 would be ideal.

The two quotes above are utter nonesense. It all depends on viewing distance.

With televisions, as with mustaches, size does matter. But it really depends on viewing distance

26" is definitely small. Remember that a 26" widescreen TV is not equivalent to a 27" 4:3 CRT. So although the screen width will be wider, the height is actually lower. The equivalent size in screen height to what you currently have would be a 32".

I agree but upgrading from a sony trinitron, like 20 years old, it should be a big difference.

The main difference/improvement will be with HD resolution, but don't be surprised to notice motion blur and poorer off-axis viewing. If you can spring it, look for a $600 Panasonic 42" plasma.

CRT's actually have many attributes that are superior to fixed panel displays. HD CRT based TV's still produce some of the best TV images available as they had no motion blur, very high contrast ratios, natively supported/displayed multiple resolutions, had very wide off-axis viewing angles, and excellent color capabilities. The downside was that they were "fat and heavy" while flat panels were sleek and sexy.
