Is this a decent rig for the $1000 range?

I plan on running Vista 64bit. I assume this rig could run Crysis at med/high settings and everything else pretty maxed out. Im sitting at around $1000 dollar cost right now including bundle specials and rebates. Thing I am not certain on:Am I better off with the dual core or should I go quad core but less Ghz? (I think the comparable price quad core was 2.4ghz). Is my motherboard fully compatible with my case and hardware choices? Will the system run decently cool and quiet or do I need to invest more in that area? I might invest in a raptor HDD in the future but currently don't plan on it. If I go dual monitors do I need another graphics card? Sorry if these questions sound noobish but I haven't built a computer since like 1998 so I feel sorta out of the loop. Also looking for monitor suggestions! If you can see anywhere I am getting major ripped off or that needs upgraded let me know (the power supply is part of a bundle with $120 rebate otherwise I would downgrade it)

Thank you all for your help!

What's wrong with the rosewill brand? It got great reviews and the couple who posted burntout ones got manufacture response offering a new one at their cost.

950W for a 4850???? You don't need close to the amount of wattage. I would recommend going with the Corsair vx550 instead, as it is a better brand and better quality power supply (cheaper too). Also, maybe you may want to look at the 9800gtx+ and OCZ Reaper RAM instead of Corsair RAM

I agree on the psu, get a corsair vx550. It's more then enough to power your system (it'll probably won't use much more then 300 watt while stressed), it's good and it saves you nearly 200 dollars. Use the money that you save on a better graphics card.

For $1,000 - I'd atleast expect to see a 4870 in there. Get a cheaper PSU and the 4870.

I think he would be better off getting the TOXIC HD 4850 then a 9800GTX+.

Looks pretty good overall, but I'd suggest some changes. -While having some extra PSU capacity is a good thing, that's just plain overkill. Go for a quality PSU in the 500-620W range, like a PC Power & Cooling Silencer or one of Corsair's VX models. (Rosewill may have a few nice cases like the R6AR6, but I wouldn't trust them for PSUs.) -I won't flat-out say that it's better without performing a personal comparison, but from what various Internet reviews have to say, something like the Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer would perform better than the Zalman 9500A while costing a good bit less.

Yeah, like people said, get a 500-600W psu (good brand and stuff) and then the extra money you saved get a 4870.

Nice choice on the case. I have the same one.

Nice computer set up for $1000. You should do well on games now and ahead.

I would go for the Antec 300 over that case and save $45. With the money you save there, I'd go for an X38 motherboard. Lastly, I would drop the sound card altogether, as modern onboard chips are great.

Get the quad its more future proof PC_X360

Anyone who mentions the word future proof or future proofing unless its for criticism of the statement should be shot.

And yeh that looks like a good system just downgrade the psu.
