My friend wants my TV bad. I have a Panasonic 42" Full HD Plasma Viera(TC-P42S30). It looks good and is good for gaming. I forgot what i paid for it but my Friend wants to buy it from me for $650 with the hanging-type stand i bought for it which was like $130. What should i do? Should i sell it and get smaller TV? Im a gamer and i fell i play better if i have a smaller TV but i dont know if i should stay put and just buy HALO4 and be done with it and jsut game on a 42". I dont know what to do, i think it is a good deal but i dont know if i want to go around selling my exspensive things.

After some quick google searches I've seen that Television priced as low at $500 at some places. It is discontinued so they no longer make those televisions and yet they are still common enough to keep the price down for a used set. Sounds like $650 would be a reasonable price for the package considering they are used. It all comes down to what you would prefer. You'll be almost even money wise after you purchase a new television. You'd probably be better off keeping the TV but it's all up to you.

Plasma TVs have good picture quality initially but it degrades over time. And burn-in is unavoidable. Buying a used plasma TV is simply retarded.

Personally I would not sell something to a friend if it is likely that he will be dissatisfied.

The guy clearly asked for someone with knowledge about TVs, not someone like you.

And?? How he takes care of that TV--should you sell it to him--after he gets it SHOULD NOT be your problem. Not to sound cold about it, but it's fact. If you know YOU took excellent care of it when you had and it gave you no issues, you can sell it to him w/ a clear head. How he takes care of it (should he buy it from you) after he gets it is not on you. Especially if your friend is a grown-ass man, he should be adult enough to know how to take care of his possessions properly and understand there are things that you should/shouldn't do w/ a plasma TV. Now if you want to be good buddy and drop some friendly hints on how he should take care of this TV so he can enjoy it the same way you have--fine.

Whos this dumb**** who said burn in is unavoidable? I've had mine for over 2 years and not a single problem with burn in whatsoever. My TV looks just as good as it did when I bought it new. However, ALL TVs, including LED LCDs, lose brightness over time. Panasonics are renowned for their amazing Plasmas and their new VT50 line is currently the best looking set out by pretty much all accounts right now.

As for $650, you're making out pretty good.

This is false information. TC clearly said that you must have knowledge of TVs, you obviously do not.

Please shut up and never return to this sub-forum, you completely neglected TCs request of knowledgeable people. Plasma TVs have superior black levels, contrast ratios, colour reproduction, colour saturation, less input lag and smoother motion. LEDs have better brightness, but have to be calibrated down to plasma brightness to get even a fraction of the contrast ratio of a plasma level due to have 2-3 times deeper black levels (the Pioner Kuro is at least 8 times blacker than any LED; the Sony HX 955) Sure, some Panasonics have had floating blacks, but even a Panasonic VT20 with risen black levels have deeper blacks than most 2012 LEDs, LOL, Let alone the 2011 VT30 or the top model 2012 VT50.

I'm simply tired of every TV thread that shows up is simply spammed with Plasma. And not knowledgeable? What I said stands as fact. Plasmas are terrible at elevation.

Because plasma is by far the superior technology. If you want to here plasma being talked down upon, go hang out with soccer moms, speak to best buy salesmen and go to those dumb 14 year olds that got their $3000 LEDs for christmas (that look much worse than a $1500 ST50 plasma) I'm not sure if you realized, but not everybody lives 9500 FT above sea level. Where do you even live? I've never heard about anyone of this problem until you (or some one else here at gamespot) mentioned it in another thread. So yeah, sorry bro, but if you ask TECH EXPERTS which TV type is best 90% would say plasma. The other 10% work for LED R&D.

Breckenridge, CO. Google it. I'm not making this up. Oh and I'm not a soccer mom or LED R&D. Just have to realize that there are people out there who don't stroke in the bathroom to panasonic catalogs. I'm not even wasting my time with an overpriced display for my next screen, I'm going with a projector. I simply talked down on plasmas, and in return I'm either a soccer mom, best buy salesman, or a spoiled 14 yr old. I don't see that making much sense.

Fact is, a plasma will burn-in faster than a CRT would (no im not talking about a game hud, I mean long-term static images) . And they do have image retention. It does go away, but both of these things I do not see as "superior technology" but rather steps backwards. It's a good thing OLED is right around the corner to sour the milk in your cereal. Plasmas have been a "that'll do" technology, certainly not superior. Am I saying LCD/LED is superior? No, but plasma is not "the be all and end all".

Nice but if there's anything I'd be stroking off to, it would be professional Sony SXRD projectors, or at least Pioneer Kuro plasma ^_^ Panasonic plasmas just deliever us the best HDTVs on the market and also offer us the best performance for our dollar, whether we're looking to spend $1000, $1500, $2000, $2500, $3000 or higher. If you want to spend more than ~ $4000, you get a projector, if you want to spend less than $1000 lol sorry but you're not going to find anything good (Well UT50s are like $900 or so now, but you know what I mean) So yeah Panasonic plasmas are the best for anyone who wants to spend like $900-$3500 on a TV. And even less if you buy last years model for like $500 (ST30)
