I'm using a site called IBuyPower to custom build this computer for me. I really have little to no knowledge on the subject but I think I did okay putting this together with the little knowledge I have. I'm an interested in playing games like Battlefield PlayForFree/Crysis 2/ Battlefield 3/ Left 4 Dead 2/ Dead Space 2/ Gta Iv/ and a few other games. How do you think it will run them?

Anyway heres how its looking so far

It's a Intel H67 Core i5 configurator with..

Inter core i5-2500 processor (4x3.30GHz/6mb l3 cache)

8gb corsair xms3 dominator (2gbx4)

NVIDIA GeFORCE GTS 460-1g-EVGA Superclocked

600 watts of power

500gb hard drive space

one dvd/cd/burning drive

If you need more info to help distinguish it let me know, I really have no clue.

It comes out to around 700 (with a lot of unspecified parts like casing and stuff) but I bought a whole bunch of extras like a mouse keyboard speakers and a monitor so it comes out to 900.

What do you think?

Any reason you went with an i5 instead of an i7?

Everything else screams high end except y our CPU.

Thanks for the response, and I probably should have posted this in PC Hardware Discussion so I apologize for this if anyone has to lock this.

Anyway the reason I went with the i5 is because i7 was around 80 bucks more expensive but I suppose I could shift things around to keep the pc under 1000 and add that.

Nothing wrong with the i5, no game will come close to using all of it for years. As for the build it looks really good. You'll max pretty much everything out there right now.

Get a 560gtx, or for cheaper 460gtx - its worth the little extra over the gts models.

You might try getting a P67 motherboard, if possible. It'll allow a little more room for upgrading/overclocking. Also, a 2500k instead of a 2500 would be an improvement, for not too much $$.

The only thing that would improve is overclockability

It's very close to what I bought for my machine upgrade a couple of months ago. I went with a 470 card and 2 x 1 TB hard drives, but aside from that I think it looks like a very sensible setup if you're aiming for a good gaming machine while still keeping costs at a reasonable level.

Performance wise I'm having no problem playing the latest games. I haven't tried Crysis 2 but I am playing the old Crysis, Shogun 2, GTA4, Metro 2033 and so on without any issues.

Price wise it looks like a fair deal. To compare prices, put a similar machine together on www.newegg.com to be sure that you're getting a fair deal.

Make sure to get the i52500k, not the i52500k, the k can be overlcocked the 2500 can't.

There is no reason to get the i7-2600k for gaming purposes over the i5, your paying 100 dollars for an extra .1 ghz stock clock and hyper threading

Yeah. It's only $15 more and it could save more than that down the line if the OP decides to overclock instead of upgrading again. The P67 also offers quite a bit more options than the H67. You need both to overclock though.
