Not too bad for that money, at least it has a dedicated nvidia card and cpu is decent. You will probably max mw3, fifa 13, blackops and most wanted. You may run Gta IV and far cry 3 at low/mid settings.

If its purely for gaming then spend that money on a desktop. Youll get much more for your money and should pretty much run high settings on 99% of games available today for 700.

Personally I would never advise anyone to get a laptop for gaming, IMO there is no such thing.

Ditto. For that money, if you won't be moving too much, you'll get a very decent desktop that will probly max almost any next gen game.

Not really, there are better deals out there. Also 17.3 in is ginormous.

As someone who made the mistake and bought an Alienware M17x w/ 797M, I'd say go desktop. Sure, I can run a lot of games at 120+ FPS, but sometimes it struggles... Witcher 2, Metro 2033... GO DESKTOP if you have the option.

If he can only be arsed to get a laptop, he'd better get some dell/alienware or asus gaming one. Acer's are a piece of garble.

The ONLY reason I bought my Alienware is because of apartment space and my credit line. I'll be building my own desktop when I upgrade.
