not for gaming. Is this a good laptop? Runnig stuff like dreamweaver , photoshop.... etc (web design) I need for college.

is the i7 720qm much faster than i5? is it worth it?

A much much weaker laptop would be good enough for doing those. It's 17 inch though. It will be a huge pain carrying it around in college.

Useless for college due to the short battery life. Also i belive Macs are popular for web design as you can easily check your project's compatibility in OSX, Windows and Linux.

I am able to at least squeeze 3 hours on my laptop with some tweaking http://laptops.toshiba.com/laptops/satellite/A500/A505-S6965. However, if that's all you are doing find a more efficient laptop. Especially you could go smaller if you aren't going to keep it in one place.

definetly not for college. - short battery - too big - as listed above, amuch much cheaper laptop would be good enough

Easier to get a 14" which can manage 5 hours on standard usage
