for just the ps3 and the games its a good trade, but i wouldn't give someone $200 on top of that for the computer. im not sure what exactly yer planning on doing on the pc but you can play games and surf the internet on your ps3....

my problem is that i'm growing out of console gaming and wish to play mmorpgs now and since im on my laptop way more than any console i see it only as wise to go to a pc i added up how much it would have cost him to build the pc and it's close to double what i'm offering him in value so I don't know.

Explain? hah. If I went out and built what he's offering me I'd be spending about $1200-1300, where as for him to buy all of this+take the $200, that's about $800.

64 Dual Core, actually, forgot to mention. And the case has 3 fans and is valued at $150 alone.

No, not even close. For 1300 you could probably build a system around an i7 920, with a GTX 285, and 6GB.

1300 for that PC? Gold plated I hope :P, Seriously, only a Dual Core, probably standard RAM, low Watt PSU, your PS3 will probably stomp it.

Using Newegg if I was a U.S. citizen maybe, but using NCIX, our online system store, I built one almost identical to compare prices, and yeah, it ended up being like this... YOUR TOTAL: $1,229 CAD The way I see it, is that from the pictures, the system looks in great condition, what I'm offering is simply a PS3 that's going down in price soon, 3 games, 2 of which aren't even that new, (in terms of release) and $200.

Using Newegg.ca, about $900 with shipping. A nice bit lower over local PC websites and NCIX, but still, I think it's a fair trade. Although I won't be able to tell til I see the condition of it all. 6 months is pretty fresh for parts, so I'd assume they're in great condition. Taking into account how the PS3 is going down in price, I can't see how this is a major 'rip-off' if anything an equal trade.

Can you link us to this 900 dollar PC? From the vague specs you listed, it seems to us your getting ripped off. Maybe it has to do with Canadian overpricing on everything?

That PC is worth about $700 CAD new. $350-400 CAD used. Not worth the trade if you're talking value only, but if you don't use your console, I don't see why not. I WOULD NOT GIVE HIM THE EXTRA $200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: There are not many good brands that carry 480W PSUs - so it's probobly some raidmax, or logisys garbage psu.

If I had to guess, he probably has that god ugly Logisys Area 51 case with the 480W psu combo.

Just sell your PS3 on ebay then. You can build yourself a better pc from the profits.

Um, PSU is Orion from what I can tell. Here's a picture of the tower: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b285/DerrisKharlan/mailgooglecom.jpg Specs in full: Athlon AMD 3.23GHz 64 Dual Core Processor Orion 480W Power Suppy 4GB DDR2 RAM Dell 19" LCD Monitor w/ Keyboard and Mouse Nvidia 9800GT 512MB HybridPower Asrock Alive nf6g-vsta Mobo 500GB SeaGate Barracuda Dvd Dual Layer Burner Thermal See-Through Case with 3 fans I revert back to what I said earlier. The system was actually built in the past 2 months and apparently he has receipts to back it up.

IF you were to make the exchange, I would personally change the power supply to a corsair tx series, buy a 22" 1920x1080 lcd monitor, and grab 2x Ati 4870's and put them in crossfire config oh wait... that mobo doesnt even support xfire, does it even support sli?, instead then later on buy a nvidia 300 series card when they arrive(later on when ya want to upgrade).

the psu, monitor, and mobo let that rig down in my book as it stands.

I'd probably be using my 37" LCD HDTV as my monitor anyways through HDMI+DVI. I think I have a 500W power supply in my brother's old bedroom that he used last year that I could swap out. I had no plans to SLI.

Okay, so why ask us? Just wondering, because you're obviously not sitting on the fence anymore and you've already made the leap before posting...

Most of us said don't do it. I think it's alright w/o the extra $200 - do what you want though.

I mean looking at the specs it aint bad, just that second hand, I dont think its worth it at all compared to the performance your going to get from the PS3. A lot of that hardwrae is outdated already, if you plan on playing newer games I just dont think it would cut it. See no use in buying outdated second hand PC hardware.

Keep the ps3. Used pcs are always bad news, plus an extra 200 bucks? no way.

Unfortunatly due to Canadian overpricing that computer does cost about $830 (after shipping), I just specced it out on newegg.ca

Just save like $200 at a time and upgrade your PC little by little.
