Is this alright? Not sure if the parts will work.

I made a thread a couple days back asking for help building a computer for around $1,000 (http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27449059&tag=topics;title). -Thanks to everyone who helped me there- Anyways, after reading through the builds and doing a bit of research, I came up with this- http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/4460/computerv.png (Another link- http://yfrog.com/mkcomputervp) (Sorry, I don't know how to post pictures) Anyways, I wanted to ask you guys what you think of it? It's the first time I'm picking parts for a computer, so I'm guessing there are a lot of things that don't work together. Also, it's a bit over budget, about $1,151 total. My original budget was $1,000. I'm thinking once I get more money I'll add another GTX 460 card. (If my build is very bad I'll just go with what was recommended in my first thread. I just wanted to try picking the parts myself once.)

you can get cheaper cases and psu's :P and your dvd-rom could be a bit more cost effectively chosen but otherwise not bad.

I thought the Obsidian 700D would give me room to upgrade, and since I got it on a combo deal with the PSU I figured it would be a good idea.

Not really, especially if it's the reason you're going over budget. The Rosewill challenger will give you all you'll need in a case for a long time: ample cooling capabilities, cable management, motherboard tray hole for CPU heatsinks, and GPU support up to cards as long as the 5870.

The Corsair *00D series is more meant for water-cooling enthusiasts. Other than that, air cooling in that case is severely lacking, so you should look elsewhere if you're not planning to build a water cooling loop.

Well, if you guys are sure the rosewill challenger will keep everything cooled nicely and will have enough room for me to upgrade later, I'll go with it. Any recommendations for the PSU? :)

It's a nice price, but I'm not sure if I like the reviews that much. 46% 1 egg rating doesn't sound too great. I think I'm close enough to the budget now that you don't need to worry about saving too much money. Anything under 100 dollars should be fine I think. Also, what do you think of the Antec Three Hundred? For only 20 dollars more it seems like a good case.

i have the same psu you chose, the tx 750 w, and it's a damn good psu. expensive, but plenty of room for upgrade, and I know it's good quality. I'd stick with that one.

You say your budget was $1000, right?

If so, then here's a build for you:

Lite-ON DVD Drive
G.Skill DDR3-1600 4GB Memory w/ Corsair 750TX Power Supply
WD Caviar Black 500GB HDD w/ Rosewill Challenger case
MSI Cyclone GTX 460 768MB Video Card w/ AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor
ASUS M4N75TD Motherboard w/ Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Operating System
MSI Cyclone GTX 460 768MB Video Card w/ Just Cause 2 Game Coupon

Grand total w/ shipping: 993.91

Granted, I did downgrade a few products in this build (processor, memory, GPU, CPU cooler, motherboard), but the added benefits far outweigh what you will lose.

EDIT: Tweaked a few things. Changed your motherboard because GTX 460's don't use up enough bandwidth to benefit from 16x/16x. Also changed the power supply because 750w is more than enough for the build. In turn, you can get faster memory, and two of the same cards :D

That's very interesting. I think I'll go with a build like that. Two GTX 460 cards are supposed to give a huge advantage, and the AMD 955 isn't so different from the 965.

Just had another question. Would using 768 MB cards instead of 1 GB cards change the performance a lot? I would prefer to go with the 768 MB cards, since it means I save a lot of money and let me use SLI from the beginning, but I'm worried it might affect the performance a lot.
