sorry it looks a bit messy, and it has 2 5870's in crossfire not just one card. Do you think the phenom will be a bottleneck for the dual 5870's. the grand total for this is $2368 canadian dollars.

NCIX wont give me the option for the 955 phenom, i dont know why. I am ordering from NCIX's pc builder because it is the only way you can get the 5870 at the moment, becasue their sold out of all the other 5870's. And they done have the 955 phenom as an option. I guess i will hgave to wait for them to get more 5870's in stock so i can choose the 955.

Why not tho. Its in the budget, and i might as well make this computer last 2-3 years running everything on max settings.

Yeah, but you could save yourself a little bit of cash by buying one now and, when your computer starts choking on certain games, buying a second one at a lower price in the future.

actually i think the solution is buying 2 5850's. I think i will do that. Its 200 dollars cheaper for the pair, and the difference in performance compared to the 5870's is almost negligible. I think i will go with this. And as for the processor, i went with an intel 920 2.6ghz and changed the case to a cheaper case. now im at a cheaper total.

Depends what you're using it for. For decoding/encoding software, yes. When it comes to gaming, however, they're practically the same, with the i7 up by just a few frames. Imo, I wouldn't spend the extra cash for such a small performance jump. Maybe get a decent speaker set with the money saved :P

just tossing this out there..... i7 is kind of the sucker's cpu. the intel xeons are more powerful, and all the 1366's are the same cpu except one has an unlocked multiplier and they're at dif clock rates... theres a 200 dollar 2.4ghz xeon that when overclocked to 3.2 is more powerful than the i7 extreme.

In games PII is actually faster many times ;) In encoding/decoding etc, the I7 is considerably faster of course.

well yes, the cpu will be needed for gaming needs. I know there probably isnt much of a difference. So i will just get the Phenom 965, and the savings between that and the intel will only be like 50 bucks. And this build im getting comes with like a 30 dollar pos sounbd ssystem. But im waiting for boxing day for the monitor keyboard mouse etc.
