Sure it would work.  As long as the liquid is non-conductive, it won't affect the system.

There have been other articles where this has been done...see the Tom's hardware links.

Mineral oil does not conduct electricity, so it is entirely possible. It's not a very efficient solution though, nor is it easy to maintain (or build).

But it does have a cool "ooh" factor which is why it's in their front office, prominently displayed.

Yeah it works, but try bring that to a lan... must be heavy.

Also, it needs more mod's to be efficient... tempatures are a bit too high.

Actually, it is better then air, can't remember if it is better then water but you have a copper HS on the top of the oil, making contact, you have your WC system hooked up to the copper HS and have a few 120mm fans churning the oil to have some movement.  Not only does that give you a SILENT PC but it also does a better job at cooling then your standard aircooling.

I read up about it when I saw a PSU mod with the PSU submurged in mineral/baby oil a few months ago.

Would suck for a seal to break in your car or room. And try RMA'ing something if it breaks lol. That one is way doper than the one on Tom's I saw a few months ago though.

I was just talking about their fanless and pumpless solution - you get that fluid moving, and it'll definitely be better than air. But just sitting around like that, I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near as effective as a computer with decent airflow.

I am shur if some one took the time to set it up right (add pumps, stuff like that) it could be pretty effective and not be just a pretty face. Though I wonder if you could combine this with that ow I forget what it is called. that thing that uses compressed chemical stuff to bring the temp in the negatives that you connect to your CPU. You would just have to have a pump running to make shure the water didn't stop moving so it wouldn't freeze.

True, but that would be like buying a system and taking all the fans off... what would be the point in that...

Anyways here is the PSU mod, oil is 5x better then air but water is 5x better then oil.
while I definitely wouldn't mind doing that to my PSU, I would never do that to my entire system, since you need a WC setup anyway and WC it normal would be somewhat easier and would offer much better performance.
