Hey. I was just searching around my computer hardware stash and I found an old Creative sound blaster Live! sound card. I was just wondering if it would be better than my soundmax onboard audio?

sound cards are by far better than onboard ones its liek with graphics cards, but it also depends on what sound it is. unless your really into having the best sounds get onboard atm only like 10% of PC users use sound cards.

Don't be fooled by just assuming having a sound card will improve sound quality over onboard sound. The SoundBlaster Live! is a crappy card and I think your onboard sound is a better one.

I'm also thinking about getting a sound card, for the reason that it will be the main processor for sound while my CPU/motherboard will be free from it. I plan to get a SB X-Fi XtremeGamer (non Fatal1ty edition). Besides, the Fatal1ty XtremeGamer doesn't even have a front panel plug for the headphone jack.
