I have this years 32" Samsung and it's amazing... you DON'T need 1080p, not for a smaller screen size smaller than 40" so 720p is perfect for this screen size. Samsung makes very good TVs as well.rogue_zero_one
Dont get my wrong here but 720p isnt the best gaming experience you can get, it depends on his price-range. I got a 1080 p 52' it looks amazing, I have no idea if it makes any diffrent for smaller screens, but I've seen 720p for some games since they make some games in 720p only and i've seen 1080 p, there is a diffrence and a big one.
If you're like me, I have an urge to buy the best thing possible. It's funny, because whenever something new comes out, and it's even SLIGHTLY better, I would buy it.
But go with your gut, that TV looks amazing, and a TV seems to be the one thing that I don't have a very good one. I'm stuck with a 19" Citizen. It does the job, though, I guess.
Good luck on your search!
Since Ive been thinking on this subject as well...
Is a 1080i TV really needed? Most PS3 games will run at 720 from what Ive heard and read, so is it really needed?
Im not very technical with the TVs, but Ive been getting help from a friend of mine. :P I still play on 420i.

That TV is good enough for sure but Walmart has almost the exact TV by Samsung (2632 vs this 2642) and it's $130 cheaper so don't make the mistake of buying it at Circuit City just because.
Doesn't that TV seem like kind of a high price? There are TV's on Newegg and Tigerdirect etc. that sell 32 inch LCD TV's for 100's less than that. Although I have heard that ordering online is always risky.
But hey I still plan on ordering my TV online just because you can get way better deals and FOR ME it's worth the risk rather than paying a lot at Besbuy or CircuitCity. That's my take on it. ;)

You are very wise my friend. I too looked at CC, but just to price them. I was shocked when WM had the same or even better for, on some, even half the price. I know WM is evil and all, but I rather pay 450 over 1000 any day.
I've done 2 months of TV research, I got the post somewhere on my computer.
In essence, I'll be brief, If your TV like one of the posters said that your TV is under 40" no human can notice the difference, only a computer and stats. No human can see that well of detail on such a small screen. Even 40" pushing it on screen size. I normally recommend 42" and up for 1080p.
Don't bother with a 1080p screen under 40" though, they're normally like $500 more just to get you to buy it and think it's better. But if you put a 720p/1080p -40" side-by-side you barely, if it all, notice a difference to justify $500.
oK - First, I agree that 1080p is better looking than 720p on any screen size - at least I can tell the difference and so can every hardcore PC gamer out there (or else they'd still all be playing at 1024x768 instead of 1600x1200 or higher).
That being said - PRICE is a major factor with 1080p - and I will say you will not find a "good" 1080p monitor for the $800 or less that this TV costs. So I would suggest looking around for the best deal on this TV and then go for it - Samsung makes one of the absolute best LCD's on the market - with super deep black level and quick response times.
:)
YOU DID NOT JUST POST THAT.
1080 P IS WAY BETTER THEN 720P PLEASE! Know your facts before you state them anywhere. I cant believe you just said that.

Thank you for writing that, himankz needs to be mushroom stamped!!
For that price you should try and look for at least an 32"...perhaps a 1080iVizio for a couple hundred cheaper.I wanted to know if this is a good enough tv to playmy ps3 on inmy room.

I love this topic cause I dont know much about this stuff.
Ive looked at a lot of 720 TVs. I have some other questions for you guys then. Which is better? 720i or 720p? Interlaced works by flashing every other line and then all the others and then repeats right? So Progressive does what?
And Ive seen the contrast level too. How important is this? Ive seen 8000:1 on one TV, yet another has like 1500:1 I thought the higher the better, but there are a lot of TVs I see in the stores that look too blury. Its like the picture is a water color. Then others are sharp, but they look too sharp and the colors are way off.
I normally go off of the picture, but I guess with HDTV the dont set them up in the store to look very good because of the signal and they dont mess with seetings. (So Ive been told) So can you go purley off the numbers?

what he said. You don't need a 1080p for screens smaller than 40 inch cuz you wont see the difference anyway.
