Well, yeah. But it's going to get out of date before too long.

Alright, and that's fine about it being outdated, I'm in college, I can't afford to stay on top of the game. I just need a desktop with decent gaming capabilities...

Sounds like a sweet deal. That rig should do you for a couple of years at least, even for gaming with all games except for the very latest DX10 games. You won't even have to worry about those for awhile though. So, I don't think that rig will be "out of date before too long" unless you consider a couple of years before too long. For 600 bucks, a couple of years is pretty good bang for your buck. :)

I suppose. It comes down to the price of repairing my laptop, though. My monitor's backilighting is starting to flicker out and I'm gonna get a quote on it. If it's an outrageous price, I'll buy the desktop. If it's a decent price, I'll just stick with the laptop.

for that kinda of money take it, at least you have the option of upgrading when you need to, laptops you really cant mess with too much, but for that kinda of equipment you gotta descent price.

I'm guessing that 3.2gig processor is one of the last p4's that came out; it's most likely an LGA775 socket which can easily be used to upgrade to a workable dual core processor if that should ever become necessary. I say take it; great deal.

Honestly I would switch out 1GB and use the money for either a slightly better processor or a slightly better vid card (taking out 1GB of RAM should subtract like, $75 or so). I mean, ive got 1GB on this PC and it can run plenty of high-end games fine (although it COULD be better, but its still good). And your better spending the money on the extra stick of RAM elsewhere (like the processor or vid card) ;)

Excellent deal; I sold a friend of mine a p4 3.0 / 1GB RAM / x800pro / 200GB HDD space with no mouse/keyboard/other stuff for $750 about 6 months ago, so you are pretty much right on with the price and product after depreciation... and I'm not a dick: I know that was a bad deal, but when you take into consideration that the dude was about to spend over a thousand for DDR2 and a single core Athlon 64 with a 7600, I did him a favour.

If you were to spend another say 300 bucks you could get a machine that will last you AT LEAST a year long and would overall be just at least 4x as fast!

And what R dot said, to buy a computer now without a dual core would be very foolish...

That extra gig so you have 2 gigs can be very good, i have almost the same rig he says in the topic creator, and i just got another gig, and the fear expansion which oddly enough ran like crap before, and with one 1 i ran the original with ease, but i needed 2 gig to run the expansion flawless, and bf2142 runs smoothly now with 2 gigs too.

Well the 6800GT is just about as fast as a 7600GT, but the 6800 is an older card so it will have less features.  It might also use a bit more power than a 7600 would.  But I still think you've got a good deal.
