Immediately prior to or after the release of an expansion is a great time to get into wow. You could probably be decked out in epics with 2 months if you started tomorrow.
Play the trial first, if you want to. If you have an inactive account, maybe you can get a Scroll of Resurrection from the wowhead.com forums or some such, which instantly raises one of your characters to level 80 (permanently).
Maybe try out RIFT too. I hear it gets strong support from the devs.
ive already tried the trial which is wat spiked my interest in it. But ive heard many people say tat wow is too old now so im wonderin whether now is a good time to get started.Play the trial first, if you want to. wow will be around for the next 5 years for sure and can maybe see it's death in 10 or 15. eventually WOW might be a Free to play game it may be 2 year away but when people don't wanna pay for wow anymore blizzard will lift the Sub fee thus WOW has a great chance to be around for 20 years when you figure some of the most succesful MMO been around 10 years and wow was better than those. So if you wanna get into it i would say your safe.Just wondering now that u can get wow and the burning crusade for like 20 dollars is it too late to get in to wow.

[QUOTE="tjricardo089"]That really makes me wish they'd update the older character models... They did and they will once again.No. WoW is a game that goes beyond age.

wow is kinda old and people are already tired of it, i would suggest waiting for guild wars 2 and the many people waiting for it, but im biased so xD
[QUOTE="-Unreal-"]i dont get the relevance of this comment Still time/it's not that late/no, it's fine/etc.It's only 8:30pm

how should i go about the expansions. LIke wat level should i play up to or how much of the game should i go through before moving on to the next expansion. ALtho do people still play the raids and dungeons at the end of wow and burning crusade
Just get WoW itself right now since it comes with TBC. If you don't like it by 68, then don't bother. Yes people still run those raids, but at 85 just so they can get transmog gear (put that item's appearance on what you're currently wearing.)

I have not played WoW for a year but from what I remembered the game is very inviting to new people. The whole levelling experience and talent system was reworked with new players in mind.
I recommend trying out the trial of the game first.

the problem is...with all the content thats in the game...u skip most of it grinding to 85...then after a couple of weeks or so of gettin geared theres nothing left to really do(if youre like me and HATE pvp in games that arent meant for pvp)
well ive bought wow and tbc. im just wonderin bout the subscriptions. It says the 3 month is 41 dollars (13.99 per month). Wat im wonderin is will it take 13.99 from account every month for 3 months or will it just take 41 dollars every 3 months. Also is the annual pass thing still available and if so how do u do it
if you do the annual pass you get diablo 3 free , you do that in account on blizzard net, if you really like wow and plan on buying diablo 3 it might be a good idea, the way it works is you sign up for the diablo 3 yearly pass and you have to pay wow for 12 month, you can do this the cheapest route(6 month) at a time or you can do it one month at a time, and yes if you sign up for 3 months they take the whole ammount of 40ish dollars.well ive bought wow and tbc. im just wonderin bout the subscriptions. you get access to diablo 3 when it releases but if you do not finish paying wow for that 12 months blizzard will lock diablo 3 account.

kk thanks for the info. And ive found i wont be able to the annual pass as the closing date to sign up was in in marchI recently got back into the game. My friend used a Scroll of Ressurection in order to bring me to a level 80 character (I was at 57 before I stopped). I am at levelt 83 now (haven't had time to play today) but I am happy I did. I forgot how much fun I had with the game especialy playing with high level people. It isn't too late to get back into the game, definitely play it...if you want to be ressurected send me a message I can send a scroll your way :).

No !!! There will be a lot of new mmo coming out like World of Darkness, Hawken, Mechwarrior, Warhammer 40k, Firefall, Stellar Dawn, Star Conflict, Neverwinter, Path of Exile, Kingdom under Fire 2, End of Nations, Forged by Chaos, Salem and lots more ....Sentinel112You're giving me the vague impression that you do not truly know what a MMO is, because you mostly listed games that are not MMOs, were not advertised as MMOs, will not be close to becoming a MMO at any point in their development time, you're also out of touch with some of them it seems, you lack information and you don't understand the basic concept of a MMO, surely your opinion is one that counts.
Also almost every single one of the names you've given will provide terrible games, almost, some of the ones with potential will be extremely niche (EVE will be like WoW to those, and EVE only has around 300K subscribers + ) and only 3 of them, that are not MMOs will be somewhat popular and in the end they will die sadly (Hawken is one of them).
I got back into it for Cata and lvled to 85 with no guild just questing solo and PUG dungeons. I happen to be on a dead server and quit cause no one was on.
I signed for the annual pass in Dec and transfered my 85 to a active server - joined a great guild with my 85 and since lvled another to 85. I will be getting the MoP when it comes out.
If you like it to 20 then you will really like at 85 - the game truly starts then. Get a heavy pop server with equal A v H find it on wowrealmstats. I like PvP more and it is fun at 85.
I lvled a rogue to 85 just to gear in PvP and do arenas. My 85 mage is more for heroics and raiding. The gear grind is fun and I am lvling a drood and hunter for both PvP & PvE.
The BOA gear is great for quick lvling of alts which you can get after 85. The rogue was lvled to 85 in 7 game days and now only does PvP with a 398lv and 4.2k res.
Get into a good pop server and a lvl 25 guild and you will love it. Do dungeons when lvling and you will get 3-4 lvls in 2-3hrs.
Hope you like it - when vanilla came out played for 2yrs+ and it was alot harder to lvl then - its a breeze now and when MoP comes out everyone will be gear grinding at 90 again so tons of fun.
I'm not bias really I tried RIFT to like 25 and got bored with the RIFTS. I know all the horde and alliance dungeons and still have fun with it.
MoP will change alot of stuff respec talents some nerfing and etc, etc, & etc. Get in now and be ready for the MoP expansion.
I do not play for the immersion the whole game is about getting the loot jones fix and the next lvl gear fix. Then kill the allies - Hate the gnome.

1) Are there some official quota which determines when an online game becomes mmo? 2) I amnot claiming all the aforementioned games will be good. I am just summing them up.Are you actually asking the question of what a MMO stands for like it's some kind of random "term" that sits next to any game created...really? DanielDustLOL Are you retarded or something? Those are not singleplayer games I summed up. They are all upcoming mmo. I was first thinking you were debating that not every mmo deserves the label 'massive' since you are being such a WoW addict and half china went over it. But rereading the conversation, it seems you do not even know that so many mmo are actually coming out soon and you misjudged the games I mentioned as singleplayer games. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. Epic fail on you. For example, when I mention WH 40k, I am talking about dark millenium. Maybe I should make a new thread with all upcoming mmo and get it stickied.
well i made a dranei mage on the drakthul server and already have joined a guild. is this server good for wat ur sayinI got back into it for Cata and lvled to 85 with no guild just questing solo and PUG dungeons. I happen to be on a dead server and quit cause no one was on.

You might have even considered single player games as MMOs, since you mentioned single player games without anyone bringing them into the discussion. You should stop making an idiot out of yourself, because, for example, there is no such thing as a MMO called WH 40K Dark Millenium, there is such a thing as a singleplayer WH 40K Dark Millenium that will probably have some sort of multiplayer, CO-OP most likely. Maybe you should go to bed or start reading (what a coincidence, you GS level, I Fell Asleep!!), because you're an ignorant brat (your last post confirmed it), that makes up things from his juvenile imagination that is also misinformed about the games he recommends without having an idea about the genre that is being discussed in this thread. A MMO is a MMO, MMO stands for Massive Multiplayer Online etc game, if it's not massive it's not MMO, there is no such thing as a MMO without massive in it (an arena shooter is not a MMO, a hack and slash is not a MMO, WoT and LoL are not MMOs, etc), but of course, you wouldn't know or admit that, because it's all under the category of "making yourself look like an ignorant, misinformed idiot".

Counter example: Tibia, a mmo way older then WoW where only a few "10.000" play the game. But it is still a mmo. You should look it up kid. It is not because WoW is so succesfull that a game has to have millions of players to earn the label "massive" before multiplayer online Also regarding WH40K on the IGN site: Developed by Vigil Games, Warhammer 40,000 Dark Millennium Online, takes the hit sci-fi brand into the MMO genre to offer fans of the franchise the most intimate and visceral experience possible of the 41st Millennium. Players can select their race and enter a beautifully crafted world of intrigue, adventure and all-out war. On their own site: A new era of online gaming begins with the anticipated release of Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online. Set in a dark and brutally violent universe, Dark Millennium Online seamlessly blends the scale and strategy of MMORPGs, with the fast-paced combat of an action game to provide an all-new level of intensity and excitement. And you are claiming the game does not exist? Are you on pills?
I'll ignore your attempt to improve your image with your argument about the number of players which is highly irrelevant to what defines a MMO as a MMO, it only defines a lively MMO from a dead MMO.
Dark Millennium is not a MMO, I'm claiming you're misinformed and if you got that from their website I'm also claiming that they're broke enough to not even afford to pay a random guy to edit the website information.
