Its fine,,,people who still say its **** are idiots! I would only not suggest Vista if you have less than 1GB's of RAM.

No, it's fine. Just turn of UAC... that's all that people complain about.

Yeah, UAC really sucks. Luckily it can be turned off really easily.

It's not bad, it's just not necessary. If you're building a new computer, Vista won't hurt as long as you have at least 2 GB of RAM. If you are thinking about upgrading your current computer from XP, then don't bother.

as long as you have a system that can handle it. It's much more stable than XP ever was. With games it seems to be a mix though. Some games like the fallouts, BG II and games that are that old work fine while games like Arx Fatilis & The Witcher have given me some trouble (The Wicher is fine after some patches.

Its fine. SP1 really fixed it up. However, if the vast majority of the games you play are XP only then there is no reason to switch unless you have money to burn. Windows 7 will be out soon.

Windows 7 is the next version of Windows that's due out in 2010, but most likely 2011. Supposedly, they're stripping out a lot of stuff from Windows the downsize its load. Knowing Microsoft, it won't happen.

Windows 7 is what Vista should have been. Its based on the Vista kernel but highly optimized. It will also be more modular. Directx11 will contain complete librairies for dx10.1 and 9 and is supposed to be more compatible with xp software is then vista. From what i understand it will also be 64-bit only release with 32-bit compatibility. Its about time.

Microsoft announced they are pushing for a late 09 release. It is in beta now with open beta starting early spring. Vista is being shoved to the side.

It's pretty much back to business as usual.. this is the schedule they had for every single OS except for XP for the last decade and a half, I guess.

From what I've heard, it sounds like Windows 7 is basically an upgraded version of Vista, not so much something completely new. And Vista works fine for me, It's no problem assuming you have a semi-modern PC.

What I dislike mostly about Vista is all the unnecessary bells and whistles. The same is true for MS Office for Vista: with all the flashy icons all over the place and the completely unnecessary changes in the menus it's almost impossible to work with. Moreover it doesn't solve most of the problems that MS Office for XP had. I would have been much happier with an improved XP and Office.
