I've heard nothing about it having any form of horrible DRM. I imagine it'll just have the usual CD-Key/Insert disk kind of thing. But someone who owns the game can probably say for sure.
That I could live with. I just don't want to have to then try to fight something like "3 installs and you're done" like it was with Bioshock on PC (which is why I got it on console instead), or something else nasty. Ironically, the least intrusive DRM has been Steam for me. At least once that's active, it doesn't matter how many times I install or whatever.I've heard nothing about it having any form of horrible DRM. The screen tearing in this game is just awfull, you'll be forced to use v-sync and have laggy mouse input. The multiplayer performance is just awful, totally unplayable, they've really rushed it out. My advice would be not to buy it at all, but if you must, you may as well get it for your console.
Can't tell you about DRM, I haven't heard anything related to this game. Are you planning on installing it on 4 pcs or something?
I own the PC version and did not noticed any of your complaints about the title. It runs flawlessly on my PC, locked in at 60FPS with everything maxed. It was very well optimized (which is a rarity among console ports). The DRM is secureROM, but it is un-intrusive, there are no install limits or online activation required. I would pick it up, it's a fantastic game, and frankly was much better than I was expecting. The screen tearing in this game is just awfull, you'll be forced to use v-sync and have laggy mouse input. Mine too, 60fps locked means that you are using v-sync which results in mouse lag, which is why people don't use it. You HAVE to use it on this game because the screen tearing is terrible.

Where did you get that? idTech 4 has always been capped at 60FPS, just like Doom 3, Quake IV and Prey, Wolfenstein is capped at 60, and that has nothing to do with vsync. If I were to use a screen that has 120hz refresh rate @ X resolution, I'd be able to go as hgih as 120 if vsync was involved.
I've noticed zero mouse lag in this game. If it's there I certainly don't notice it, not even close to the horrendous mouse lag in other titles such as dead space.Mine too, 60fps locked means that you are using v-sync which results in mouse lag, which is why people don't use it. Yeah, the mouse control on dead space was awful, you had to use a controller if you wanted to play it which is why I sold it :D
I've left v-sync off and I'm sort of learning to ignore the screen tearing. To be honest though, the game isn't much cop. The lengthy monologues by bad voice actors on auto pilot that you have to sit through is so boring. "yeah yeah, get to the shooty shooty" I'm playing it on hard setting and it's still a walk in the park, I might start again and put it on the highest difficulty setting. Maybe it gets harder later on.
Worth 25 quid? God, no.
Really? I'd give it 6 at the most, it's really boring. You find yourself just watching your compass and walking until you find some enemies or some bint you have to listen to. Graphics don't mean anything to me but if I had to describe them I'd say they were bland and out of date.
A very run of the mill and unoriginal shooter. I'm giving it a fair go but so far I'm very dissapointed, I should have waited for the reviews.

Same, I didn't like it at all.
And I noticed the mouse lag with V sync off.
This isn't a console port...cluclapThat's not the part I was worried about. What worried me was whether this was something simple like "insert CD Key here" and go, or if it was a "you can only install # times and call this outsourced call center in New Dehli to be able to activate again" kind of thing. Sadly, didn't see it on Steam. :( However, I was surprised to see that Best Buy is offering a $10 gift card for purchasing it, so I think I'll try to head there and beat the clock tonight to go get it. :D
You won't notice any screen tearing with v-sync on as there won't be any. Try turning v-sync off, it will get rid of that horrible "floaty" feeling to your mouse, your control will be much more precise but you'll see some of the worst screen tearing you've ever seen :D I'm putting up with it because v-sync is awfull for first person games. I'll play another few levels tommorow but I imagine it'll be on ebay shortly afterwards. I can't see it getting much more exciting.

SecuROM again? Ah well, the console version it is then - after a price drop. Thanks for letting us know.
What problems have you had with securom, robert?
I've never had any problems myself, I've never understood the internet witch hunt. It seems for the most part like people are just following suit like kids playing snap "yeah, DRM, booooo!" without even thinking about what they're rallying against.

I don't want to go into all that again. Suffice to say I'm certain in my own mind that SecuROM 7 killed a DVD drive (happened right after installing a few SecuROM protected games), and it was a real pain to remove it (with null entries in my registry, hidden directories with illegal file names, etc.). Maybe they've improved it since then, but it left a bad taste, and now I don't want it anywhere near my PC. I avoid all StarForce games for the same reason.
