Is World at War still worth getting for multiplayer?

I played the Beta and liked it a lot. But is the community thriving or is it slowly dying and I'm better off getting MW or Mw2?

there are enough players that you should be able to find a populated server at any time of day very easily. Treyarch also did a good job with patches, i believe there have been 3 map packs released for free for WAW.
