ohh ok.
when i was playing it, it just seemed so repetetive. as though the whole game went like: quest, then instance, then grind, quest then instance then grind..or is it just me??m_j_skin
It's not just you. That's the game. The real question is "How do people find this fun?".
i agree. i cant figure out why there are millions of people who play hours and hours of this every day, there must be something im missing here :?
m_j_skin
Yea, you're not missing much. Wait until more interactive and skill-oriented MMORPGs come out. There's also a common misconception that World of Warcraft has the most players in the world. It's just simply not true. There are asian MMORPGs with ~12 million player (though I'm not sure if they are still up to that number). And they are all grind-oriented.
Keep your eyes on Age of Conan and Darkfall. They might be something special.
So it can be fun if u have enough time to build up a good character and get into a raiding guild??m_j_skin
It's sound sad but it's true. For I,myself, used to join the good guild once and it's a great experience with a lot of memorable moment but when they broke up their guild.WoW lose all their attractive to me.I got lv 50 Undead Warlock and not logged in for 5 month now (and maybe not ever...)
ps. sorry for my English grammar,it's secondary language in my country.I try as best as i can but I'm really sorry :(

your english is fine mate! :P
But now ive got mixed responses i dont know what to do! haha.
would it be worthwhile to build up a character for the end game instances?
WoW is such a boring game:x Man i wouldnt pay for that game and also there are other games that we dont need to pay montly to play like CSS or maybe rpg.
Dont waste your time and money in a game like that. 8)

IF you want to have a good taste of what is high end content in the game you'll need to collect very good stuff (heroic instances) and you'll need to have a test period in a good guild in order to join it. If you are good enough then you'll can enjoy fighting in very hard instances and you'll have the more powerfull stuff of the game. In the other way, big guilds will ask you to have a good playtime, for instance you'll have to raid 4-5 times per week and you'll need farming for the guild.
I played a warrior during 2 years, I tanked many big boss and I enjoyed doing it. In fact, some people like raiding, some people don't...
Another thing : it depend on the class you are playing : if you play a priest you'll need to remain calm because you'll heard a lot of "wtf, heal !!!!". It's just an exemple.
In my opinion, if you are just playing to gathering stuff, WoW isn't for you but if you enjoy developping strategies, then you will enjoy playing in a good guild.
P.S.
Sorry for my poor english, I'm french :)
I cant figure out whether World Of Warcraft is worth paying for every month.. i mean ive payed for a 2 month subscription before but i dont know if its worth that much money?m_j_skin
yes it's worth it but i don't work yet so i can't afford myself to spend 15$ per month - best solution > i bought Guild Wars

This is only my humble opinion, and I must say no, it isn't worth the money -.- I won't say any reasons because it both correct for someone as incorrect of other one, so I don't care.
It's very boring. I have a level 70 Rogue in epics. Not worth it and not very fun. Try the trial. If you feel like you can play that for thousands of hours, then I guess you can buy into it. Instead, I'd Get Gamefly, it's only a dollar more monthly except it's lots more fun. GodLovesDead
if you thought it was so boring why on earth would you play to 70...it takes monthes (if you have a life)
If WoW is worth the money, that is the question. It is a truly awesome game, if you can spend several hours each day, or every second day atleast. (3h+) Otherwise this just isn't the game for you. It basicly only gets fun when your joining a raiding guilds, and doing the raids. Other part of WoW is a big dissapointment, atleast to me. But it is basicly doing the same over and over, and that's the whole game. If you like experiencing new stuff every hour or so. Then this game isn't for you.
But I personally love it, I've played it for 2½ year, and I'm satisfied. But everything is up to your play-type. But yes, it is quite expensive. But to be frank, I don't have much else to do on my spare time anyway.

guild wars is not the game you wanna play. WoW is fun if you give it a chance. ive been playing for about 6 monthes, level 49 blood elf warlock. if i didnt have a life im sure i'd be 70 now. but if you play it you need to pick a good class that you will like a hav e a good time with. i never thought id play past level 10 but im having a good time with it.

i didn't knew that you know what m_j_skin thinks, plus saying "guild wars is not the game you wanna play" is the most brilliant sentence i've ever heard - WOW it must took you ages to think of such a complex sentence
But now ive got mixed responses i dont know what to do! haha.let me spell out an end-game instance, and you can decide if you think this is fun. some like it, some don't: you and your guild will get together and prepare some place probably not quite at the instance, but near. for my guild, this could take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes depending on the day. you walk into the instance and you pull trash mobs that are ridiculously easy for a group with any experience in the place. after the trash mobs comes the boss. the boss will normally require everyone to know exactly what their cla ss has to do at exactly what times in the battle, and it all has to go pretty close to the plan for the battle to be won. obviously each boss battle differs, so you will have to know your place in each battle, but it is generally a pretty simple set of instructions, and you can normally follow everyone else of your cla ss's example of what to do. depending on the boss and the skill of the players, the fights can be from 5 minutes to closer to an hour's worth of work, and if you wipe then you have to start it all over again. the whole process is kind of like being part of a machine. there's not really any room for free-thinking unless the **** hits the fan. it's mostly just do as the leaders instruct and finish the boss. when you're finished, the loot will drop, and it's time to divide it up. normally, there's only a few items to be split between the 40 or so people of the group, so very few people will come out with anything to show for their effort, so the only reward you should be expecting is the fun of the battles themselves. after the boss, you just rinse and repeat this same basic formula and adapt it to whatever other bosses or mobs are in the instance.

I cheated out of pure boredom. Friends said the game got better at 60 (and then 70 once BC) came out. They were wronnng. Raiding is nothing special. You sit there for 20 minutes waiting for everyone to arrive, then depending on your class you have a single role (hit guys, heal guys, buff guys, or debuff guys) until you reach a boss. Then once you reach the bot, your guild leader in Vent will lead out a speech explaining how to beat him. It's normally really simple. Rinse and repeat. It's just a big waste of time. Just make sure you prepare a meal and a good TV show because there's not much going on.
It will cost you money (more then it's worth) it will consume your time destroy your social real life (you can't play for let's say 2 hours a day.
Because if you would only play 2 hours a day you can't join the good guilds and good raids because when I played it it always took a bout a hour to setup a raid-group and stuff then a raid can take a few hours......
In the end you won't have a life left just because of that stupid game.
I am really glad I quited after about a year.
It was fun but just like I said before it's really bad for your social life and it's really not worth money you can better buy another games for the monthly fee.
Been playing for about 5 months and still haven't gotten hooked. I would say no, but I know there are truly people who enjoy it, so I'd say try the trial and decide for yourself.
I'd recommend City of Heroes/Villains instead myself. You can take on hordes of enemies at times and its generally much more action-packed.

I agree, don't waste your time mate. Pre-Naxx I thought the game was loads of fun, played it since launch. But it does indeed get repetetive, just quit about a month ago, and I regret ever wasting money on it. Because if you step back and look past all the hype and etc., the game itself is pretty mediocre.
And I also agree you should wait for a more skill-based rpg, like Age of Conan, which, if it pulls off what it's promising, will be a big step forward for the MMO genre =)

The game that never really got me into it was Oblivion. It was the same crap. Run here grab that. Isn't that whta WoW is about? Well then all you oblivion fan boys can be quiet. Thats all you do in there as well. Just your a loner and play in the dark all by your self. The reason I brought that up is because this guy had his avatar as the from oblvion.

Thanks, man. That's the funniest thing I've read in a long while!
Oh, for those of you that don't get the joke (it better be a joke or this is the most idiotic person I've seen in a long while) is that anyone that thought a game was boring and STILL played it long enough to get a character to 70 IN EPICS, is either joking or a real bonehead.

waaaay different budExplain bud. Its kill monsters, Go through dungeons that look the same, get better gear, do more quests. Its all just in first person and being alone. So explain to me the difference. Gameplay wise.

lol it sure do = endless grinding is AWESOME........NOT!!
I said that because I played it with my friends and WoW I play it alone :P
no, the gameplay is exactly the same end game. You just have more options then. Try to find your self a good guild before quiting, for me, that changed the game completely. BTW what level have you got you to? and if you do plan on playing it til the end NEVER make a new character until you get there. MAKING ALTS IS A DISEASE :P
Zmith_Of_Comsci
yeah i would never make any alts. but after all these posts i think im gona wait for the next generation of MMO games to be realeased. does anybody know of any upcoming MMORPG's that actually require skill instead of relying on a high level and good armour?
These are not the correct forums, most gamers here are FPS gamers(Which most of the time hate RPGs/MMORPGs) and others are just sour people that can't pay for it so they hate it and they only say what they have heard which comes from who?you guessed it these same kind of people.
The is it worth question is only worth asking to yourself, I can tell you if you don't enjoy leveling you probably won't enjoy the rest of the game but leveling is fun to an extent, just be sure to stop to do instances and stuff that can give you a good time.
Also for those that say it is the biggest waste of time.....Thats what its meant for, FFS its a game!
