ISP Download Limit

Well, I went over my DL limit for lats month because of the MW2 free weekend on steam, and I got rly mad that I only have 50 GB per month/. SO I'm wonering which ISP's do you guys have, and what is your DL limit?

Also, if you're in Canada, can you recommend me a good ISP that has unlimited DL AND good service? As i want to buy the CIV 4 package :( ughh depressing.

I'm in Portugal and I have unlimited download. Here everyone has it. The ISP's here don't give us limits anymore.

I don't know if you guys have it in canada but it's the best internet service that i've ever had. I routinely get 2 mb/s download speeds from steam.

LMao, well like if I just did everyday use it would bring me awfully close to 50GB and add MW2 onto that I had like 65GB at the end of the month, and yeah some ISP providers here (the biggers ones like Rogers and Bell) have limits on DL, I'm thinking about switching to ACN Canada.... I wish I lived in the US

ACN is a scam. I think if you pay extra you can remove the bandwidth cap with Rogers?

Bandwidth limits in this day and age are appalling. Stay away from Cogeco/Rogers. I use kelcom no limits. Internet slower then cable but still worth it.

Is it a scam? I was reading a lot of the topics online about whether or not it's a scam, a bunch of my dads friends use it and he told me about it. Eh, now I'm rethinking this. And thanks True_Sounds, I'm going to look into Rogers (since im with Bell Sympatico right now), and since you;re from canada, which ISP dyou use?

Belgium - 100GB limit (28.62Mbps DL, 1.11Mbps UL (just checked it :P))

But in a month the limit will change to 250GB and after that (another month) it will be unlimited (and will stay that way)

I've got Charter and a 100GB limit. The only ISPs around here are Charter and Comcast, so you're kinda ****ed if you want no download limits around here. The TV channels on Charter suck too. 100 HD channels and me and my mom have yet to find a single channel with any actual HD content on it.

Ontario Canada here. I'm with bell. we have the 6 Mbps plan with unlimited bandwidth usage, and before you ask; they don't offer the unlimited thing anymore.

I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I have ultra high speed, my bandwidth limit is 30gb a month with Videotron. Steam is a no no for me because per gb over the limit, they charge $8.

I usually average about 30GB a month, so I don't even come close to the limit, but then again, I don't stream a lot of content, and I rarely buy games off Steam - I buy physical copies of most of my games.

Comcast high speed cable internet, paying for 12mb down and like 1-2mb up around $70 a month, and Im not sure about the bandwidth cap or not. (We really don't download a whole lot actually, and seriously don't upload a lot, mainly just gaming and surfing.)

I may not have one, or I haven't reached it in a long time.

LA, down here this is the best offer so far.

I also only get internet, I have no bundle package I don't get the crappy cable that comes along with it, or Voice service.

Though if we get a better offer in our area, Price/speed ratio, then thats what im gonna go with.

I live in North/Central Ontario (North Bay specifically) and I was with Cogeco Cable last year. Split $70 a month with 2 others for a 16/1 connection and a 100gb cap. Really rediculous.

I'm with Teksavvy DSL this year, only 5/.700 connection, but at least I get 200gb of bandwidth and it's only $29.99

Canadian internet is really rediculously crappy because we don't have any competition.

Cogeco has monopoly on Eastern Cable, Shaw has monopoly on Western Cable and Bell owns all the DSL connections and just leases it to resellers. It's such bullcrap since I can drive 8 hours south to the states and get much better internet...

My download limit is 20 gig a month. I don't spend my days pirating everything so I hardly ever go over my crap. New Zealand internet is so crap but the country will be upgrading in the near future.

Unlimited at Denmark, I can't think of one ISP that doesn't have unlimited download.

PS comcast does not want to find people like this, because then it will make a big publicity thing... that is why Comcast does not actively search for modem hackers.

But if you abuse bandwidth and you're a modem hacker, you're screwd... cause like that is actually pretty damn illegal.

If you're seeding torrents on a public tracker then yeah I can imagine that'd max out most lines. My old roomie does that on the demon, had a terabyte uploaded in no time haha. I prefer saving my bandwidth on pure downloading, reason why I quit public torrents years ago. When I see FIOS in Canada, or something equivalent for cheap enough that isn't a hosted server, it might make more sense again.

I bet alot of Canadian teens are costing their parents fortunes with this generations p2p normalcy, when they could just get a newsgroup subscription for like $15-20 a month and then not have your bandwidth divided.

I can make do with Rogers 60GB, but during the school year I have unlimited on campus, so I just stock up on stuff and put it on a couple externals. Helps me with rationing those 2gigs transfer/day throughout the summer.

Ya it is. Those guys in other countries are lucky. 50 gigs limit. I wish we had that here. I get 20 gigs a month for 70NZD and extra 20gigs for another 30NZD. Which is around 70 USD in total a month.

i have 50gb a month too Up to 20000/1000kbps it sure uses up 50gb quite quickly though...

I had problems with reliability of service in the past, so I had to bite the bullet and go with an ISP that offers better reliability and decent customer service - but they do cap my bandwidth at a paltry 20Gb per month, and I pay more than I should at £22 (~$33) per month. Can't even get the max 20Mbit download speed of my package because the local telephone exchange is limited to 6Mbit throughput, which sucks. British Telecom have a stranglehold on the telephone exchanges here, and there are no plans to upgrade this one, so I'm kind stuck no matter what ISP I go with - I'll still be limited by the line capacity.

Having said that, I think it's time to shop around again.
