I recently bought my friends old graphics card from him as he was having issues with games freezing. He sent it back to the manufacturer (XFX) and they said that it was fine, and considering that my system was becoming extremely dated I decided to take the card off his hands and see if I would have any more luck with it. Unfortunately it has the same problem with me and the computer completely freezes when I'm playing some games. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be or has anyone else experienced this problem with their card and know of a solution?

Ah I thought it might have been, I'm not sure but its a Dell PC and it will be 5 years old this summer, is that likely to be a problem? Its set on 230v, I'm in the UK if that makes a difference on what the power settings should be and its an AGP card. I'm pretty sure the fan is working because XFX said that the card was working fine.

The first thing I always think of with a freezing image (especially while gaming) is overheating. Try monitoring the temperatures while stressing the card to see if they might be getting to high. Ati tool can do both.
