If theĀ iTunes is supposed to download/upload music into an mp3 format, why would it download as an unusable mp4 format?

Totally random question I know, but its something I've never seen before.

What I don't understand is why iTunes would download music that is totally unusable to an iPod. Its not like there aren't mp3 convertors to be found over Google of course, but that's not the point. That kind of set up by iTunes is mind-boggling.

It's not working on your iPod? It should afaik. It's just a wrapper for mpeg-4/aac encoded files (I think it will work for any audio format) that allows them to add DRM.

I'm doing the standard drag and drop onto the iPod after purchasing the songs from iTunes and the tracks aren't showing up. Looks like I'll have to convert the music tracks over to mp3 myself. This wasn't happening before.....ugh......teh lame.
