well, my 6870 is defective... i've never RMA'd anything, what do i do?
i created a ticket in support complaining to them and explaining my loyalty towards the company and such
what do i do?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
heres what i wrote for my ticket:
Would it be possible for Sapphire to send me a replacement? when i put my clocks a bit higher using catalyst control center, the screen looks like it does in the picture. I have tried using this graphics card in other computers, and the exact same thing happens. So it is very hard for me to play a game while maintaining my clocks so low. This is the second time i have received a malfunctioning graphics card, and i am very aggravated. I have had a much easier experience with MSI and Visiontek. I don't want to sound impolite, but this is not acceptable, i have been loyal to sapphire at the exception of 2 of the 6 graphics cards i have owned, but this makes me rethink my loyalty towards Sapphire Inc.
im hoping for a 6970 or 6950, or something like that, because ive heard of that happening to people :P
I really doubt they'll send you a new card considering you broke it yourself.
Next time just say "I booted my computer and my graphics card did this"
" Hai saphire I plugged my GPU into the AC socket on the wall. It's dead now, I have always been a loyal customer, visiontek something or another. Replace it or I will be angriez" That's basically what I got out of your message.
This. Never mention that you OC'd something.I really doubt they'll send you a new card considering you broke it yourself.

§ Um, dont be surpriced if they dont even bother to awnser your mail.
1) Theres no physical way for them to know if you overclocked a card if you dont mention it, in 99.5% of the cases OC'ing woid warranty.
2) Your card work normal under stock settings, a card is not faulty if it works as adverticed within it's specs.
s*** didnt mean to say i oced it

Do you mean that you regret telling them that you OC'ed your card? Because I cannot see how you can possibly type out that you OC'ed your card on accident.

1+ never ever say you OC your card. even if the company clams that they do replace cards under warranty caused by OCing. just play stupid and say it just did this out of no where, there is no way for them to find out and they wont NEVER ask you to prove it.

WHY WOULD YOU SAY THIS!?
The story is always this: I have been running the card out of the box with the drivers in the CD and it's now decided not to work so well.
THEY can't prove you're running an OC unless you flashed it and destroyed part of the card, which is highly unlikely when you think about it, and they'd probably not bother to check.
Okay, a few things to point out for use in the future: 1. OC'ing voids almost all manufacturer warranties. Even if they provide you with an overclocking utility like MSI likes to do, actually using it still comes with the stipulation that doing so will void your warranty. Thus, by admitting you OC'd the card even a tiny bit just voided your warranty. Good luck getting them to accept a return, especially with that rude email. 2. Speaking of which, saying stuff like "OMG I'm so going to tell everyone I know not to buy from your guys anymore. At the very least you just lost a LOYAL CUSTOMER!" only makes you look like a drama queen. While it is true that GPU makers will sometimes give you an upgrade after an RMA, that only happens when the card you're RMA'ing isn't produced anymore. You can't buy, say, a 6870 and then RMA it and expect to get a 6970 in return. 3. For future reference, NEVER admit to running a piece of hardware out of spec. This means never admit to OC'ing, BIOS flashing, core unlocking, or even using an aftermarket heatsink. The story you tell should always go "Hello, I think my (insert hardware here) is broken. It was working fine for awhile but it stopped working all of a sudden recently. Huh? What's 'overclocking'? I don't really know much about that kind of thing. I just installed the part and drivers exactly like in the instruction manual and never did anything else to it".heres what i wrote for my ticket:
