Halo doesnt belong on the PC.

It is a console game.

You realize Halo was first for the PC until Microsoft bought the rights to it off Bungie right?

Microsoft released Halo 2 purely to promote their new OS,Vista. I believe it backfired, and not many people play halo2 as people who play halo 1(1000+ people playing last time I checked) If they had released Halo 2 for XP, then there wouldn't be people cracking and getting the game illegally. They would have made a lot more money also.

You have to pay for windows live in order to play multiplayer on Halo 2(you can't play multiplayer on XP; It doesn't work). I don't know about the retail version of Halo 2 running on XP...You need a third party patch to do that I believe.

And for those that already have Vista (I have 2 machines running Vista), they would have sold more of Halo 2 if it was a better port...removed COOP for the PC version??? I'll pass! ;)

Halo 1 was unveiled in 1998 at Macworld (it was going to be a mac exclusive), but then MS was like "this looks cool" so they bought bungie and were going to have it for pc until they decided to make a console and needed a good game for it.

Personally, I thought Halo 2 sucked in comparison to Halo 1. Why would you want to play Halo 2 on either system at this point?

Just like halo 1, it will be a crappy port, and it will require laggy vista which is even more crappy...

Amazing work

no kiddin Vista is new so it has problems, but why would they put it to Vista? it's like they're suggesting, Vista is the best, and when it says Game For Windows, they're technically lying, cause u can't play multiplayer on it withought Vista

i really doubt that...maybe an official patch to make it work on XP will be out, but not the actual game. MS would never allow that...bad for business.

Many games nowadays say "Games for Windows" on it and thats just Microsoft's way of getting their name out and making people think that the game is optimized for Windows. It doesnt mean much, just a marketing scheme or something. Compan of Heroes is "Games for Windows" marketed but it runs on XP, for example.

There are not many games for Vista-only, however. The only ones I can think of are Halo 2 and SHadowrun as of now. Maybe lost planet, but I played the demo on XP so I dont think it is Vista-only.

But just as a safeguard, ALWAYS read the requirements. I went to buy Bioshock, and since I have a top notch PC I didnt even bother looking at the requirements. I get it home and found out it requires internet to activate...that was a good wake-up call o always read requirements.

So much confusion over a simple question.

1. No you can't play Halo 2 on XP when you buy it from a store, it's a Vista only game at this point of time.

2. When you see a game labeled "Games For Windows" that does not indicate that the game is for Vista only, it's a new fancy name for PC gaming.

3. Always make sure to ready on the back of the game box and if it says Windows Vista only, well then it is. It will always say XP/Vista if it supports both.

Halo is utter crap. Don't contribute to the worst gaming system in existence just to play a crap game. Every dollar spent on an Xbox is a dollar spent killing originality and risk-taking in development for games. It is the single greatest threat to the future of gaming...at least gaming as we know it.

Idunno about utter crap (I enjoyed the first one, havent tried the second one) but I do agree that there are better shooters out there for PC. Just because its the best shooter the xbox has doesnt mean that its the best shooter on all platforms.

Imo, all of the following shooters are better than all the Halos:
Halflife series
Quake 4
FEAR
Far Cry
Doom 3
Battlefield series
Joint Operations

And thats just to name a few!

The best thing about Halo is the multiplayer so what is the point of buying if you cannot play it online? I am sure an Xp release willcome when Windows Live launches for XP.
