it's to make each game give each player a limited time to play the game.

i know i seems out of the blue as they say,but lets try to adjust it to any game lets say like wow, there are MILLIONS of wow addictive players around the world, playing TONS of hours without stopping, and i know alot of those millions want to get rid of this problem but they cant,so why dont the game itself from the inside give each player a limited time to play the game? so every player in the world will feel satisfied because they will say (it cant be helped, its a rule that each person in this world follows) and from another side, nobody's lvl will go higher than his friend's lvl because in online games alot of ppl lvl up quickly because their friends plays alot so they cant keep up with their lvl except if he plays alot of hours like him (and they dont really wanna play too much) so if all of them played the same limited time then this problem is deleted:P (i am sure that this solution has alot of advantages like these) so what does everybody here says?

P.S:if u wanna reply FIRST read the whole post, and 2nd i hope i a get piece of advice from anyone, without any bad words or what so ever,3rd sry if my english is bad but i hope u ppl got the idea, this is my first time i make such a post like this, since this solution suddenly came into my mind and i thought that if i didnt write it,it would be a waste so bear with me ok?

People dont like restrictions, even paying for game is enough to keep you away from it,and its not like they cant just quit it.

Takeing in consideration that you cannot put lets say 3 hour limit, what if player was in middle of important battle and game stops playing just when he was about to kill boss that would piss me off and i would never play that game.

All in all, thats not really good idea

Games are meant to be fun and keep you away from wories like "ohh i must go and play than and than,or that much" you just play it.. if you feel like playing whole day - ok its your decision noone can say you no (except parents)

And about saying - who plays more is bether

Of course, person who plays more actualy "secrefices" its time for "ingame level/statistics" so its sacrefice they make to actualy be best.

Same is with lets say basketball player, who plays and trains whole day to be best. its not like he is restricted to play so other can be good as him. Others dont train lot - never going to be best easy as that

i understand what ur saying man but lets say that its um... worldwide rule (like stealing and some others,as an example u know) that ppl cant play more than 6 hours a day,no body will say no cuz its a widely known rule, nobody can go against it

and if ppl made a schedule time, lets say that the limited time is 3 hours as u said,u can play 1 hour pvp,1 hour a fighting monsters and so on,and if it was an important battle as u said, its ok to take the whole 3 hours just for it cuz everyone with u only have the same fixed time(anyway the boss wont take 3 hours cuz the game will be made only to play it for 3 hours) and besides 3 hours isnt an enough time anyway

And about saying - who plays more is bether

Of course, person who plays more actualy "secrefices" its time for "ingame level/statistics" so its sacrefice they make to actualy be best.

Lidve

i thought for a limited time cuz its only a game that bothers ur eyes and ur back and makes u like a nerd, not like a basketball, basketball doesnt hurts the body as the PC does (correct me if i am wrong) it would actually be great if ppl played basketball instead

and as for what (SEANMCAD) said u might wrote in the wrong topic lol (or at least make it makes sense -.-'')

This 'solution' has already been implemented in China, with MMOs limited to three hours per day or something. You aren't the first to come up with this idea.

And it's an incredibly stupid idea.

Players don't want to be limited, and game makers want players playing their games. Who does want to limit us, then? The Government! Limiting how often people can play something they bought which they play in their own homes is totalitarian bull**** that has no place in a free country. Are smokers told how many packs they can smoke? Are drinkers only allowed to buy a bottle a day? Are nerds only allowed to spend so much time studying? Does the supermarket tell the fat guy he can't buy that third pizza?

I find the very idea of having a limit imposed on what I do in my free time with something I have payed for offensive. My property, my privacy, my posession, and no laws broken. No one has a right to tell me what to do under those circumstances.

And I say this as someone who experienced a severe EverQuest obsession from 2001 to 2004. I'm healthy and happy now, but I was once over 300lbs because all I did was play EQ all day. But those choices - the good and the bad - were mine to make. And while I may regret making some of them, they were mine to make.

As for the everyone's equal rationale, that's also stupid. Why should I have to suffer because little timmy can't play past his 7Pm bedtime. People aren't equal, and treating people equally is ridiculous. If everyone was exactly the same, which is apparently what you want, our species would have died off long, long ago - and deservedly so.

What's the difference of playing an online game or a game on a console?

You can't restrict just a portion of gaming, you should restrict it all, a lot of players don't enjoy games other than their online games, why the **** should you restrict them!?

I'll just wait for fatshodan to destroy your argument, I'm too tired now.

in offline games,it takes 10-60 hours only to finish a game (correct me if i am wrong) however if u played an online game u wont stop playing it cuz it doesnt end,and there are some other differences if u thought more -.-''

You don't think three hours feels limited. Right. Well, I do. Why should what you think determine what I'm allowed to do? What if I want to play ten hours? I payed for the game, I payed for my computer, I payed for my internet service and I payed for my game subscription - why can't I decide how often I play it?

And if I can't decide how I spend my free time while abiding by the laws, who does? And based on what?

and why ur sticking to online games that much? there are alot of consoles u can play ps2,DS,xbox or what so ever,so just go there and play them as u wantflamer4ever

Are you a straight male? If so, allow me to submit to you this question: why only sleep with women when there are men out there you can be enjoying, too?

Are you of a particular religious inclination? Why not convert and enjoy all of them? There are so many other religions out there! Hey, and in the next election, why not vote for all the political parties?

And next time you're at the supermarket trying to decide between Kellog's or store brand corn flakes, why not buy both?

Just like you, I choose what I want to experience, based on my own personal perferences. If I like online games, and online games only, why should I spend my time playing games I don't want to play? That's like forcing meat on a vegetarian.

and about the somking, drinkers, etc i dont think i need to answer this, cuz i dont know any way up untill now to help in these thingsflamer4ever

So what you're essentially saying is, if you had the power to control aspects of people's lives, you would? You would determine how much people are allowed to eat and drink and smoke? How about how much television people are allowed to watch? How much reading people are allowd to do? How much socialising people are allowed? If you had the power, would you (or appointed representatives) decide what is best for other people, then enforce that belief?

In other words, you would strip every choice people had - for their own good? Would you stop there, or would you also decide how people should look? Genetic modification has reached a point where people's appearances can be decided before the're born, or you can always resort to good old fashioned genocide of everyone who doesn't fit your appearance standard. And how about thinking? After changing how people act and how they look, why not go for the trifecta?

This whole thing sounds doubleplusungood to me.

Hard restrictions are certainly not a new idea, but in addition they do make a game less desirable. One thing I've considered before, and probably most of the industry with me, is soft restrictions, or conversly, bonuses for casual players. A soft restriction example would be, after playing for 3-4 continuous hours the amount of exp you gain is cut by a quarter, after 6-8, it's halved. An hour or two or four rest in between removes that limiter. I don't really favor this one. An example of a bonus, which I think I have seen, is that when you log in, in the first two hours your exp is multiplied by 1.5 or something like that, but this bonus applies only once in a 12 or 24hr period.

In any case, I highly doubt the government cares what you do with your time. If you're playing a video game, you're one less voice that will be complaining. It's the difference between casual and hardcore gamers that needs to be bridged somehow. Many games end up with an elite group of players, and everyone else. The elites are almost always the ones with no job, no life, and a room in their mother's house... No one wants to put up with that, so it often ends up hurting the game. These discussions are nothing new, but I think they're still worth having as one might randomly give birth to a decent solution... might...
