WoW! Uninstalling as we speak. Here's my story. I bought WoW at launch played for a month and quit. Started again about 4 months later and quit about 2 months later etc. etc. this has gone on a since launch. This has been an ongoing problem as I was always getting bored with my consoles and would always see WoW sitting on my game cabinet and using it as my backup. It's a sad day and also a great day. I never actually raided. I only got one character to level 60 sinch launch! I only had about 4 characters the other closest was 40. So it wasn't like I was one of the hardcore players.

I had been recently playing again because of friend of mine started playing so it was fun for a time. He recently quit so naturally the good times I was having went with this. I love all types of games but I'm realizing now that I like games that reward me immediately not after 6 hours of play. But now I think I'm finally done with MMO's for a long while. But now comes the task of finding a different refreshing game that has multiplayer or something like strategy or something sim-like. I have a ton of PC games here also a 360, ps2, gamecube, ds, psp, etc.. I'm a gamer. MMO's are not games anymore. They are becoming a disease in my opinion and in my experience.

I'm looking for something new. I like all types of games. I need to find something that can be played casually or for long periods of time. Multiplayer is a huge bonus. I need your help. I never want to use my "backup plan" ever again. If I were to actually play an MMO again it would only be a space type game that can be played casually. NOT EVE I hated it. So please for the love of everything gaming save me! I need your help! Give me something to play! Please I beg of you end this madness!

How about single player RPGS...

Something with a story and real player empowerment...

Something like Planescape: Torment perhaps

I'll check into that. I do like single player Rpg's any type of character or saved progression is what I like. Like sims and or sim city. I played morrowind and oblivion and loved those as well. I'm just stumped right now.

Bloodlines is really quite an amazing RPG now that all the bugs are worked out with patches. I know it sucked when it first came out but now....really quite good. The KoTOR games are really good as well. Neverwinter Nights 2 is a lot of fun(hated the first one personally). Good job about quitting =).

Eventhough the multiplayer options aren't that great, Heroes of Might and Magic 5 (or even HoMM 3) is a great game with a lot of replay value.  Some maps take hours to play, and the strategy involved is great.

Well Jimmy...

Do you have Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords? It's a very entertaining space TBS (turn based stratagy) game that can keep you occupied for hours on end. You can play the campaign mode or you can generate a random map and be in control of the variables (to a point): you can choose the abundance of stars, habitable planets, how many other races you play against vs. the computer, how large of a map you want to play on, etc.

You can even find a map editor and create your own levels/maps. You can play online against others and test your skills against real people.

I've had the game for a good 8 months now and every once in a while (after spending an uncountable amount of time playing this game) I'll still start up a randomly generated map; and over the course of 8-16 hours (I like the larger maps) through a few days, I'll play through the map.

This game will help you kill time, if that's what you want. Just my two cents.

Hmm.. sound cool. I'll check into that as well. I'd like to play either a space type game or a top down rpg like diablo stuff. even though i've never played diablo or anything like it i really want to.

If you like first/third person shooter type games, you should see if you can find a copy of Advent Rising for PC. It came out early 2006 if I remember correctly.

There are a few graphic and frame rate issues, but if you can ignore them....the story is very well written. Advent Rising is supposed to be the first in a series of three. However, I haven't really heard if the second part is coming out or if it is even being worked on. It would truely be a shame to let the story fade away.

You can check out my review of the game here:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/adventrising/player_review.html?id=295429

Also, there's a bit of an older game out there called Freelancer. It's a space sim, you can read up on it more here:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sim/freelancer/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary

Freelancer has got to be one of the last decent space sims to be made and this game came out back in early 2003 if I recall. You mentioned how you wanted to see about getting into a space type game, Freelancer just might be what you were looking for. I still play it from time to time; you can even jump online and play with others (although I'm not sure how many people out there still play it online, only way to find out is to try yourself). And if you don't find anyone online to play, the game is still very fun in single player campaign without a doubt.

You should be able to pick up both games fairly cheap. I suggest checking Amazon.com or Gamestop.com for both games and I'd venture to guess you'd be looking at $10-20 for each game, depending on where you find it for sale.

Or, if you have an Xbox (not sure if Xbox 360 will support it yet) you can probably find a cheap copy of Advent Rising for it. I do suggest that you pick up the PC version though, you can obtain patches for the game then, if there are any released.

I hope this helps you out some.

For singleplayer rpg only, you can get Elderscrolls 4: Oblivion if you don't have it already. Mods made the game alot better than it was on release and an expansion is coming out next month I think. Also, an add on pack with mods and added quests came out this month so it'll be a game that you can play for a long time.
