Some of you probably have already seen it on GAF or 1up.

Jeff Green, the former Editor in Chief of CGW/GFW magazine is leaving Ziff Davis for EA.

His GFW Radio podcast is perhaps the greatest podcast on the planet, and it won't be the same without him. I'm crushed by the news, but still really happy for him.

Any Brodeo listeners out there?

ah, i love jeff green. he was funny as hell, and he really made cgw/gfw worth reading. i wish him nothing but the best.

i just looked up jeff green on wiki, and it looks like he'll be working on the sims at ea. i wonder what he'll be doing, specifically...

Doesn't say, just that he's gonna be joining the Sims team. Which sorta made sense, since he has really good chemistry with Rod Humble. But I'd hate to see him working on IKEA stuff. That'd be a huge waste of his talent.

At least I have Bloodlines to look forward to this weekend. :)

And by the way, is your screen name a reference to the great John Wycliffe of the Lollards?

Ever since we lost GFW, I've been in tears. For me, that was the death of PC gaming magazines. PC Gamer hardly counts, but at least it's something. Won't be surprised to see it fade away in the near future, just like all the others.

I've never been introduced to Noobtoob, I'll check it out.

Although, I find it hard to imagine anything beating Yaddle milk.

How terribly sad. I have been an on/somtimes off brodeo fan for a while now. But truth be told I haven't heard it since sean left, because it made me too sad :(

Jeff leaving is too much for me. Ryan and Shawn can't fill that void. Something like GFW should go till the end of time, if I had the money I'd fun them to do it for life :(

End of an era

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. I'm sure EA offered him a lot more pay, and what they were paying him at 1up was probably not enough. You cant blame the man. If you get a much better offer, sometimes you gotta take it.

He is good - but there are a lot, a lot of really good podcasts out there.

I don't have time to listen to all the great stuff I download to my iTunes every day so I have to pick and choose.

Although I will miss him it is also one less item to have to worry about is one way to look at it.

And since we have no choice 8)

That's too bad, I really enjoyed listening to the GFW podcast in particular because of Jeff Green (and Shawn Elliot). I haven't been listening much recently, but only because it's been a busy summer/year and haven't often been able to get around to it, certainly not because of a lack of want.

One of these days, I need to check out this Noobtoob JP_Russell keeps talking about ;) I just quickly went to their site and judging by the "Games We've Been Playing" and "New Releases" lists at the moment, they are fairly console-centric? Or no?

Yeah, they're mostly console gamers, but they do play PC games, as well (Yuzo plays some RTS's on PC, they both played the Orange Box on PC I think).

But even though I have no intention of playing the games they talk about, I'm still interested in everything they have to say because they're just real gamers talking about (imagine this) games, and they're pretty funny and entertaining while they do it. They're just two dudes, two friends, who work as some kind of software programmers, and who decided to start a podcast that actually discusses games they're playing, unlike most (this GFW, for instance; it's pretty funny and I like the chemistry between the guys talking, but I did find myself getting a little uninterested after a while in their random talk about things semi-related to games). Even though I'm strictly a PC gamer, it also helps to keep up on console releases and what all is going on in the console scene by watching Noobtoob, so I'm not left out of the loop.

Check out the hyperlink in my sig and watch their latest episode. Heck, just watch the first five minutes, and see if they seem interesting to you at all.

Same here (except I do own consoles as well). Not necessarily a problem with the format, only an observation. Sounds cool. Will do ;)

I'm not surprised he left. Ziff Davis really botched the way they shut down Games for Windows magazine. First there was the sudden shut down with no warning or farwell issue. Then there was what they did with the subscriptions. They stuck me with EGM. They didn't ask anyone if they wanted a refund or a new magazine. I've tried to cancel but they ignore my requests. I'll never subscribe to another magazine as long as I live.

Jeff Green is one of the few people I concider to be an actual video game journalist.

It's not that you can't find the Games for Windows magazines anymore - it's that they no longer exist, period, and are no longer being published.:(
