So I'm working on an affordable PC build for gaming (of course), and I think I've got the components I want. I believe everything to be compatible, but I would like you all to double check for me, just to make sure.

Here's the build: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=13102208

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Get a dual core instead and use the money u save for a better GPU

Look at the E8400 Dual Core... Also don't get that Operating System.. Get this its $99 and it supports more ram

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116488

almost every new GPU has a VGA/DVI to HDMI adapter included in the box, so that shouldnt be much of a worry.

Ditch that Windows VISTA and pick up Home Premium OEM for system builders.

at the current state it looks like a great build. i would suggest getting a bigger hard drive, you wouldn't believe how fast games take up space on them. this isn't an issue if you play one game at a time but i usually have at least 20 games installed so.... yeah....

Hi I'm wondering if you should get a different power supply.

That one only has a 6 pin and an 8 pin for the video cards.

If you want to SLI with cards that require two 8 pin cables,

you might want to pick another PSU. By the way I have the

600 Watt version of that supply and it is very good.

You can get the new version of the XFX core 216 GTX 260 for $169 w/ free shipping, no rebate hassle, and COD5. It's much better btw. Almost twice as many shader pipelines and more memory bandwidth... You should get close to twice the performance for the extra $25...

Nice but hey dude whats up with the Quad? Get a E6850 C2D, works better than a quad for gaming (if thats what you want to do)

Vista Basic? Why? Get Ultimate x64 or Home Premium x64 because it will work a lot faster than 32-bit (only uses 2gb instead of more)

Bump your HDD to 250gb also

Bigger hard drive for sure, at least 320gb, 64 bit Vista if you are going above 3gb of ram. You could get a better gaming system for less if you went the AMD Phenom II X4 route dragon platform (under $1000) with a Radeon 4870, and AM2+ motherboard which would leave a little bit extra to buy other upgrades like a blu-ray drive etc..

HDMI is mainly used for HDTVs right now.. It's an improvement versus the Red White (audio) and Yellow(visuals) Cables which only do standard definition and sound... There are also component cables for TVs which use Green Blue and Red (visuals) but still use the red and white for audio... So HDMI is a slightly better quality visuals than component, and much better sound. It supports 7.1 and tons of different codecs for home theatre set ups..

VGA is the older PC to monitor connection... DVI is a bit more common now as it has better quality.. Visuals are as good as HDMI but it doesnt do sound since most monitors don't have speakers, and GPU are seperate from sound cards in PCs.. Most HDTVs have VGA inputs. I don't know if any have VGA.. But anyway the TC needs an HDMI hookup because apparently his screen has neither

My GTX 260's came with the hdmi adapter and an internal audio cable that connects to the sound card/motherboard to carry audio over the hdmi cable. I don't use it because I have a monitor and surround sound, but it's available.

Get rid of that case (especially for that price) and the keyboard could be much much better.

You don't need a video card with an HDMI output for digital quality video. Use a DVI to HDMI adapter for the video and a headphone to RCA adapter for the audio....

All audio is eventually analogue, what's known as 'digital audio' is just converted outside the PC. If you want to take advantage of the digital audio then you need to buy a proper audiophille DAC and amp for it to be worth it, a good sound card should be fine.

Because he can get a MUCH better video card. Why buy a crappy video card for HDMI if 2 cables work?

As I stated previously, some high-end cards come with an internal audio cable so that sound is transferred through the hdmi adapter that is also included. My BFG GTX 260 cards have this.
