Just bought the game today and I'm installing it right now. It also came with the euro Force expansion, which I didn't even know I was getting :D. I had a really hard time picking between this and Oblivion, but I figured battlefied was cheaper. Can't wait to start playing it right now. Anybody else play Battlefield 2 on these forums? I want to find a few good servers for the Los Angeles area with a good community, recommend me a few if you guys know of any.
You might experience the MASSIVE bugs in the game, if your lucky you wont experience any during installation. The game is not user friendly I have to admit, but it is fun, especially online mode, but the prone thing is so annoying you could prone and jump at the same time and people will have hard time shooting at you. LOADINGS ARE LONG, make sure you have atleast 1GB RAM!

im not sure if the game comes patched or not by now, but you most likely have to download a 400 mb patch
Yeah I'm running an intel core 2 duo 6400, Nforce 680 motherboard w/ 1 gig of ran, and Geforce e 8800, so it should run smoothly on the highest settings. I'm gonna test it out right now w/o downloading any patches and them tomorrow I download everything.
ok just finished playing single player. It wouldn't let me play multiplayer since i didn't have the new patch that all the servers require. Anyways, I set everything at the highest video levels and it played very smooth.
I played all battlefield games, and battlefield 2, and battlefield 2142 have over 1700 servers each, soo i think u should find ur self a few servers , even tho u cant see what state or countrie each server is made in.
i play but only on australasian servers. i really do think 2142 is better but each to their own.maccaaccam
I agree but 2142 just doesnt really have enough maps theres only like 5.... but online the fights are great lots of action... and dieing, in both games

you can find servers in your country in each game by using X-Fire or GameSpy
Yeah I play Battlefield 2, I've spend over 147 hours on that game. "My Xfire says less, but thats because I recently installed Xfire" Its a fun game if you find the right servers. Just remember to install the latest patch which is 1.41 so you won't be filled with bugs. Also, experiment with all the classes and see which one suits you best. Don't fly a helicopter or plane unless you know what you're doing. And finally, join squads. You gain more experience that way than by being a lone wolf.
Hard to say where the servers are located. Just join a couple of popular ones and check your ping. There are also infantry only servers if you find yourself annoyed with vehicles. Rubberducky, WarIsHell, IMA, Cain's Lair are all good. As someone already mentioned, don't forget to patch up.

Yeah, IMO, BF2 sucks. I bought it, found out it sucked and then there was nothing I could do. They already had my money and the box was opened.
why on earth did you not play the demo first? or read some reviews? or see if your friends play it? do you even like fps?

ROFL what are you talking about?!?! I played the demo like 2 weeks ago and I couldn't stop playing. I bought the game like 4 days ago and the full version is even better!!! It's like real war and the action is really intense. Go play your RPGs and don't diss this great game.

I love FPS, and everyone on the internet were giving it rave reviews and forgetting that you need 2 gigs of ram to run it, and even then its still buggy. And the demo, it was crashing to the desktop if I remember correctly, but I thought they would have that fixed by the time I had to shell out 50 bucks for the game...

A lot of games need more than a gig of ram today. Even Half Life 2 uses over 1 gig on maximum graphics. And if you go download the latest patch you won't have any of the crashes you experienced.

that's interesting. i'm a huge fan of dc and still prefer it over bf2, but bf2 is a fun game in its own right. and i've been fortunate to have less than 5 ctd's in bf2 since the game was released. actually, the ctd's happened after v1.4.
and although it helps tremendously, you don't NEED 2 gigs to enjoy bf2. only if you personally HAVE to have hi-res textures
good choice, battlefield 2 will last you longer. to me Oblivion is the most overrated game ever made. I still cant understand why most ppl would give it a 9+ score when it should be below 5. i quess everyone have different taste. :?
Honestly my reason for going w/ battlefield 2 over 2142 was just simply because it was cheaper and came w/ expansion pack ( which actually I found out about, only after I purchased it :D) Pluss I played it before a little at internet cafe's so I knew I was going w/ a safe choice. 2142 looks real good though. Did they upgrade the graphics for 2142 from battlefield 2?
if you want though you can get bf2142 and btw i dont think anyones mentioned that NORTHERN STRIKE is out, but you have to pay $10 to get it (downloading it from ea, and not sure if its in stores yet)
IMO the game is worthwhile to play. Ice radon, I am not sure what your computer specs are but my demo (after playing it for 15 hours) never crashed and my retail game in the 2 years that I have played it on separate accounts, it only crashed 2 times total. IMO its not worth knocking a game just because you couldn't get it to run, but its your opinion, and I won't argue against it.
The game is not that buggy. Some people just jump on the bandwagon and blow everything out of proportion. It's a great game, and has tons of re playability online. Singleplayer is OK, but you basically have to tell your troops every step to take it seems.
