GTX 980

i5 3570 at 4.5

16gb of ram

This game runs poorly, and the graphics are not par with today's standards... I mean I get better FPS with GTA V, and the game looks 1000 times better

Sorry to hear that but that's what you get for preordering or buying on launch day.

My buddy is playing Just Cause 3 on his i7 4930K & a single R9 290 @ 4K. He told me, the game runs really well for him (on Steam). If the game gets Crossfire support, he'll be testing it with Tri-Fire R9 290's.

It could run crappy on Nvidia or new drivers will fix it for you.

And there you have it, it might run poorly on Nvidia, it might also be the drivers so wait for an update.

No I don't feel like arguing with you. GTAV does look better, lets just agree on that.

JC3 is more aesthetically pleasing, though, what with the Mediterranean islands and such, that's just my $0.02 though

Damn you just talked me out of going 4K. I always thought people were exagerating, as usual, that a single GTX980 could not handle most 4K, but theyre right.

Maybe I will just get a 144hz monitor...

@mrbojangles25: You could consider a 2K monitor. There are many times when I just use a single 290 (instead of crossfire) @ 2K and I'm always able to run games on High/Ultra settings.
(As surprising as it is one R9 290 can handle even intense graphical games @ 1440P (always able to achieve High settings & 60 fps or at least near 60 fps).
So with your 980 you should have no problems gaming @ 1440P.

Oh wow I get great performance when I set it to 1080p.

I was running it at 1440p... but I think Vram is the issue here. GTX 980 4gb of vram might not be enough :// Hopefully next gen graphic cards will have lots of vram

No man you won't be fine with 980 at 1440 if you want to max everything... even with smaa and DOL set on high, my fps is not smooth
