what a freaking game!!
i'd give it 9/10. absolutely awesome. there was really very little wrong with it, excellent graphics, smashing gameplay, good variety of weapons (considering what they had to work with given the era), amazing locations, one of the best executed stories in any game i've played, decent one on one duels, and the cover system was pretty perfect, the only one in an fps i can think of that works well. good replay value (i cant wait to play it again on very hard mode) due to weapons and playing as the different brothers.
theres only a few gripes i can think of. you never really get to use thomas' knives, bow and lassooing in a stealthy way (im going to try harder in my next play through). also the open world bits didnt happen often enough, they came as a surprise when they appeared (only twice or 3 times i think). that said, it really REALLY whetted my appetite for a proper open world western.
the bullet time was a bit naff, although i got used to it, still hated Rays tho. and his auto aim got kind of annoying, especially as it hindered playing quite a lot. and the opening levels were rubbish in comparison to the rest of the game, so if they're in the demo, its really nothing to go by. lack of co op as well.
what did you guys at gs think of it?
heres hoping to more western games!
