i just finished MAFIA yesterday, the ending was really good...i guess the game teach us about karma, we will get pay back as the consequences from every single things that we have done. but i feel sorry about conflict that happen to those guys, its more like miss communication, but ended with the worse. anyway, its still a great game for me. i like it. very very like it....

any news about the sequel?i also have a question, in the mision when we tried to kill morello, is there another way to kill him? because i finished that mission and kill morello at the airport (plane crashed), but in the next scene, tommy implicitely state to Salieri that he kill morello in front of crowd at theather (maybe at parking yard) so? can we kill morello with legendary Lupara that Vincenzo gave to Tomy?

Yeah great ending.  I heard a longtime ago that they were working on a sequel but the main writer developer has a disagreement with the company or something and quit and the sequel has been permanently scrapped.  Or something like that.

And no I don't think there is any way to kill morello.  It's been a year or so since I last played it so I can't remember that party very well right now.

Awesome ending, and story in general. Mafia was the only game I ever played with both a mouse & keyboard and a steering wheel. It had fantastic driving gameplay and really good shooter gameplay. They should really make another game with the same setup.

there probably wont' be a sequel at all. but if you're looking for more, you can try the various fan made mods. one of them, i forgot the name, is pretty big.

quality is not guaranteed though. :P

Yes there are some great mods for mafia, go here - http://mafiascene.com/modules.php?name=downloads&cat_id=14&last_id=0

There is a mod out their that will make most of the main characters look as good/detailed in the game as they do in the cut scenes.  Also one that puts the real car names in place.  These are must haves!  Also many that change the signs to real brands.  Also you can change the signs yourself easily.  I did this and changed every sign in Lost Heaven into stuff I picked out!

this may sound very contradictory, but story is at once the best and the worst thing in Mafia. the setting is very original, with distinctive characters revolving around. BUT, it is also very thin, revealed only partially through the game's mission sequences. beyond the 19 missions there's nothing to it. i made a long post about this a few months ago, comparing it to GTA:SA..... in conclusion(mine), the layout of the narration is very lacking, and is an unfortunate waste of the setting. :(

There was talk of Mafia II but all sorts of internal issues with the developers killed that...I'm sure you can find the old articles about it in the Mafia gamespace here...a shame really.

I think you are the only one that feels this way.  And MAFIA came out 3 years before GTA-SA so its a stupid comparison.  MAFIA's story is better than any other game in my opinion.  And there is something beyond the 19 missions.  Free Ride!

since i mentioned absolutely nothing about graphic, my comparison is not "stupid". your opinion is valid, of coz, but to me, the narration of the story is severely limited to the amount of missions ( 19 ), with nothing in between to even hint at your involvement in a depression era "family". the action is good, the city is beautiful to roam....but this is a process during which i feel very little sense of belonging. the mediocre voice acting aside ( and in this respect all GTA since the 3rd shine ), the characters i've risked my neck for, my wife, my boss, my brothers at arm, ultimately become cardboard figures only to provide an excuse to the action. the OP asked a good question. what happened to A, or B, or C? we don't know....and i simply can't muster enough emotion to even care.

Again while that may be true, for a game that came out in aug 2002 it did more with the story than just about any other game at its time.  Even Vice City came out after MAFIA and that's another game that when you are not in a mission the characters are gone or become cardboard.

Comparing MAFIA to SA is like comparing Far Cry to Crysis because SA built off of MAIFA the same way Crysis will be built off of Far Cry.

I'm not even sure what you are complaining about, sure there were some minor holes in the story, so its not perfect.  I don't know of any game that is perfect.  But what Mafia did for its day its still better than any other game like it before it.

Half Life was not 3rd person and did not have an open map.  Half Life is great and had a great story.  But to me I enjoyed the Mafia story much more than the Half Life story.  Both are fantastic of course and are 2 of the best games ever made in my opinion.

for example, mate....don't you ever wonder what happened between you and Sarah, besides "we got married"? the way i see it, a good love story is wasted....and if you ever watched any gangster film ( which i assume you did, alot too :) ), you'd notice that no gangster story is complete without putting its hero in the dilemma between his own family and the family he works for. The stuttering car mechanic and the fat gun vendor play absolutely no part in the game...... what a waste. I could use more missions revolving my relationship with the boss too, since he must be a father figure that defines my experience in this game.....but no.

see mate....the game is a very good action game, no question about that. but when you compare the experience you've got from the game with certain expectations one would have for this kinda story, especially when he is familiar with the genre, the holes in the story are not small anymore.

And remember you were not "totally" locked into the mission order.  You often were given the option to visit the car guy, what's his name again, on the way how from completing a main mission and do a side mission and pick up a new car.  It doesn't sound that impressive today, but again in Aug, 2002 there wes almost nothing else like it in an open map type game.

I played the game in one sitting right up until the stealth mission (i think it's mission 12) and it was so frustrating I stopped playing. It's a shame great games have to put crap stealth sequences in - no one likes them. If we wanted to play a stealth games, we would have bought Splinter Cell or Thief. Even Godfather had that part with the cow's head, but at least it was easy. Also Godfather was a quick beat, so it made the whole game a great experience, more so than Mafia. The ambient world and business exortion also added a bunch of replay hours. My $.02

No I never wondered that.  I thought they did a great job with the Sarah part of the story, you got a great sex scene that was very well done and the Tommy talks about her many times after that in cut scenes to keep that part of the story alive for the rest of the game.

The game was already long enough and that is just stupid!  You could pick on the plot line of any game and ask "why didnt they do more between these two charicters".  You could not name a game where someone couldnt pick part of the story and say there should have been more.  You are splitting hairs now just for the sake are arguing and you know it!

lol, mate, take it easy. i don't mean to upset you. but i don't think i'm being picky too. i already mentioned the conventions that i think are necessary in a gangster story but are severely lacking in this game. i stand by my opinion.

No its just that your arguments make no sense at all.  All you are really complaining about is that you wanted more story in some areas?  Big deal?  The Mafia story line is considered to be one of the best ever.  And I can not think of any game that has topped it to date.  I love GTA-SA and consider it one of the best games ever made also.  But certainly do not see its story as being any better told than Mafia even with the fact that it came out years later and they had many examples like Mafia, and Vice City to build off of.

I could go to any of the all time classic stories and complain that I want more.  I want more story between Romeo and Juliet; I want more story between Luke Skywalker and his dad Darth Vader.  I want more story between Rick and LLisa in Casablanca.  Bla Bla Bla.

You are just arguing for the sake of arguing and splitting hairs where they don't need to be split.  Anyone can criticize a masterpiece.  Maybe I want to sound cool and say I wanted to see a frown on the Mona Lisa so now I think its overrated!
