Hi, I just got a new PC and want to get into an MMO.  I'm thinking of these four...any help?

1) WOW - The pros would be that all of my friends are on this; the drawbacks would be that I'm coming in really late and I kinda don't like to follow the trends of what everyone else is doing.

2) GUILD WARS - Been thinking about getting this one for a while but don't know too much about it.  No monthly fee, which is good.

 3) LOTR ONLINE - I like the universe of LOTR, but like GUILD WARS, I don't really know anything about the gameplay.

 4) Star Wars Galaxies - the pros would be that I already own the game discs; the drawback would be that I hear it's a pretty broke game nowadays...

I can tell you from being an MMO hopper (just look through my collection, I've played a variety), that playing a game with your friends makes it 100 times better. You have someone to talk to about the game, you can hang out with your buds online, and you have someone in the game willing to help you out (hopefully) from the start.

So with that, I'd say go with WoW while it's solid. It's a fun game, good for casual play, good for the hardcore gamer.

Guild Wars is good, but it's more like a digital card game than an MMO.

LOTR . . .not sure, I have no interest in this, as I've run the gauntlet of fantasy MMO's . . just waiting on Warhammer.

Star Wars-yeah, just burn your discs or use them as coasters. It's a big waste of time.

Hopefully this helps.

I'd say guild wars, I myself own and play factions regularly, it's basically a carbon copy of WoW, but free, so I think it would be the most logical choice to go with :)
