From what I'v seen he graphics still look outstanding, is it in any other way dated, and is it still worth a buy?

No quite the opposite really, make sure to get the most recent patch to get maximum boobage.bobabanYES!!!!
Heh as the above me said...
When you have playied Thw Witcher you will begin to understand that most RPGs havent moven an inch the last 10 years... Kind of silly really, it is made from a fairly small unheard off team, that used to translate Bioware games, and they knock out the best RPG this gen.
The story is ace, way better emplemented then any other I playied this gen, you can understand emotions and rationale behind most characters, and you feel this strange often eerie feeling that you (well it is Garalt) does not belong in the world, or rather he shouldnt.
It still awes me sometimes when I play it, It is not very techincal, but it usus what it has to a degree that would shame most other games.
The music conveys emotions incredibly well, often sending messages as effeciently as the visuals or voices and text, it is somewhat aweinspireing (especially that you sometimes catch yourself not aware there are music on at all, because it just becomes so natural for the settings)
Andthe gamebloody awesome ^^
Another game I would advice (Altho you did not ask) is the last gens lost gem "Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines" has the graphics of HL2 (same engine so no surprise)
I surgest that game because I often think it is the only newer game I can put up anywhere near The Witcher, Mass effect, DA:O, Risen, just about any other game fell short.
definately not....one of the best rpgs i have ever played.....better than the neverwinter nights games, which share the same engine, a very very good game. story is deep and believable, nothing "magically" happens to make you have to fight someone. there is no aimless wondering. i was very impressed with it, even being a vet of fallout, baldurs gate, icewind dale, and neverwinter nights
This was my first game with my new pc, after 3-4 years away from pc gaming and I was blown away by it.
A must own game imo!
The Witcher and Crysis really made me feel great about coming back to pc gaming, playing those on my brand new pc was great fun :D
I was blown away by the story and the atmosphere in The Witcher.
Yeah it has better graphics than dragon age!!! Anyway the game is linear and not about character creation or choices. Its about talking the role of Geralt and experiancing an epic story!! Best story and level design any in rpg this gen!! There is also exporing, sidequests and gathering herbs but the levels are small regions, they are not as big as eg fallout 3!! For me its best rpg this gen. Get the EE edition!!From what I'v seen he graphics still look outstanding, is it in any other way dated, and is it still worth a buy?
