Just got a smart a$$ message from BO2 about cheating.

So I went to play soem BO2 tonight and got this smart a$$ message about cheating. Not sure why I got this or if this went out to everyone. The thing is I have never cheated in a game in my life. Also I got a new router/modem and after reading up a bit I found out that this has been a issue for a lot of people.

Anyone else get something like this?

i could understand how the over-emphasizing of how "you" are not who they mean would easily allow this to be interpreted the wrong way. there are 5 instances in this short text telling you how nice you are, how we like you, how you would never cheat but at the same time some fairly heavy threats are made which, at the very least, contradicts their acclaimed knowledge of who you are as a player and how they appreciate you.

It's a general message about cheaters, it's not aimed specifically at you.

It's a general message about cheaters, it's not aimed specifically at you.

Let me recap my story a bit more clearly.

I got a new router/modem for free from my internet provider. After I got it I went and looked up reviews and some people said that while in games they were having issues with anti-cheat softwares.

The next time I logged in I got that message so I thought that maybe that message was more of a smart a$$ warning because they thought I was cheating...

lol that message is hilarious. They intentionally dumbed it down for the crowd they market to. JKnaperek

I see nothing wrong with this message. Its as nice a warning as you could possibly get. Cod has had MAJOR cheating problems since they began using matchmaking. This is the first matchmaking Cod where i have seen no cheating.

I actually think this message is hilarious.

I got something like it, I was playing a match on BO2 for PS3 and after it someone left the game and I got a message from him saying something like "Hi this is Dave from PSN, we have been told that you have been reported for cheating in BO2, We need you to reply with your E-Mail and Password unless you want your account to be banned" Anyone else get a message that said roughly the same thing? Because I'm fairly certain that it is someone trying to hack my accountBaconmaster999

The message you got is from a scammer, he want's your account. Just ignore him.

Sounds to me like they're saying, 'If someone is caught cheating they'll get a permaban, so don't sweat it we'll keep the playing field as even as possible'. Not really a bad message but I guess some may see it as a warning to them.

lol@ everyone reading so much into this. It's just a message dissuading cheating. It's not "dumbed down" or anything. If Valve had posted a similar message with regard to, say, TF2 no one here would have said thing.
