I downloaded the Crysis demo anticipating bad framerate and low setting graphics. When I got in the game,I followed gamespot hardware guide, and turned up the textures and physics to high. Then I put object detail, shaders and water to medium.

Lo and behold I was running at 40-50 FPS average. Here's my system:

3 Gigs RAM,GeForce 8600 GT

I know my RAM is great, but I didn't think my card would be good enough to run things at medium and high. Is the demo representative of the full game? As in,if I buy the game, will it run as well as it does in the demo? Single Player and Multiplayer?

My CPU is a genuine intel with 2.0 Ghz. It isn't even dual-core,that's why I was surprised with the good framerate. I actually forget what resolution exactly I was at,but it somewhere in the middle of the list.

Yes I just checked, that's the resolution I'm at.

So do you know the answer to my second question? Will it run well in MP too?

It may drop a few frames, but if you can run it that well in SP, then it should be OK, might have to drop a few details, but that performance is impressive

Don't get excited. Performance gradually gets worse as the game goes on.

And personally, I think 50FPS is Bullspit.

Well, for an average game,I'd agree with you. But for Crysis,50 FPS is great for me.

And the graphics already look better than I thought they would,so I'd be happy to drop some details in the later levels of the game. Thanks for the help!

not like the game is very multi thread anyways, im very disapointed with a quad core and only seeing it use 30% to 35% most 40%, but mainly 30%, but im hoping the patch soon will fix it.

I'm not saying 50FPS is bad.... I'm just saying I think your system getting 50 FPS is BS.

Sorry I didn't quite understand that. Did you mean that my system shouldn't be getting 50 FPS,because it's not good enough? Or did you mean my system should be getting more?

I have a similar system (check sig) and I ran the game fine on 1280x1024 at the default medium settings. I didn't check my fps but I wasn't getting any slowdown at all.

I think if anything holds you back it'll be your processor. I've only played the single-player, so I can't tell you if there's any difference in online play.

SP vs MP.... Given you're playing on a server with decent ping...

Instant Action is about the same as campaign for performance.

Pwr Struggle is much more demanding, huge map, tons of vehicles and a lot going on.

You should try editing game files if you want to make it look better, but I don't think you need to if you think it already looks great

He means youre talkings.hit as that rig is pretty poor by current standards & unless youre talking crap about what settings youre running at (youre probalby on lowest details settings though), youre old system shouldnt get a framerate like that.

Well, good thing it's not one of them fake intels... Seriously though, 2.0GHz single core? As in... Pentium 4? Pentium D? If that's true I'm sorry, but I can't believe you. If you were to say a Core 2 Duo processor at that speed (or Quad), fine. But a single core? Intel? No, I don't think so.

shaders, post processing and shadows are the most demanding settings. Set these to medium or low and the rest to high and youre guaranted good performance.

Shaders & Post proc. might be the most demanding, but there also the best-looking.

Shaders change the entire look & lighting of the game, Post proc. Gives it that nice motion blur on high, shadows.... I don't really care about shadows, same goes for textures. Textures don't look amazing in this game anyway. Water & P{hysics are always high for, they barely change performance. In a water-heavy secion of a map, I benchmarked water on high and water on medium. An averge of 1 FPS was gained.... Might as well jack up the water at that price!
