Kevins review on Divinity 2 is not only inaccurate, but is also full of bias and anger. The sad part is, he is so full of anger on his review, so full of commitment, that I wonder if its something personal against that studio. If not, why would all other sites review this specific game higher than gamespot? Why would every single player review be much more positive? I dunno, but in my opinion, this Kevin VanOrd is a biased reviewer. Peace Edit. BTW is real late and sry for my mind not flowing a lot right now, but you get the idea... kevin vanord is a big studio fanboy who shouldnt be reviewing games and forming opinions.

My biggest problem with his (and others on this sites) reviews is that they make excuses and exceptions for mistakes and oversights in AAA games but in games that aren't maybe as good or polished they will burn for similar problems.

Kevin is THE only reviewer on gamespot that I enjoy.

Even though I dissagree with his scores sometimes, his reviews are ALWAYS written very well and he has reasons for his scores.

Sure I dissagree with his scores for Divinity2 and Risen, but its all opinion anyways, so no big deal.

Kevin is the only reviews i look forward to on gamespot these days since Greg and Jeff left.

I disagree, just take a gander at Cryostasis review, that proves pretty clearly he isn't biased if you ask me.

I honestly can't stand him most of the time. I hate when he tries to be funny because it ends up being so painful to watch and results in cringing.

Inaccurate in _your_ eyes. I read no Bias nor Anger in his review so that must be something you are 'sensing' because of how you feel about the game personally. Everyone has the right to form opinions... its sort of... well, human nature. Attacking someone for a review that does not fall in line with your wishes? Now that has the markings of a 'fanboy' if ever I have seen one.[QUOTE="maveriqz"]Kevins review on Divinity 2 is not only inaccurate, but is also full of bias and anger. I actually agree with a lot of the things he said in his Divinity 2 review, although he forgot to add how annoying your creature can be peeing every 2 seconds while your looking for secrets...Maybe the score could have been a little higher but I don't think scores do games justice.

I didn't care for the demo. I think his review was accurate. Just because someone doesn't like a game you do doesn't mean they are a bad reviewer.

I LOVE it. You are so right hahaha. Also, I am getting sick of Divinity 2 fanboys pouting over the fact their game is not all that good.

Like the guys above Kevin is my favourite reviewer here. Seriously if you don't agree with his reveiw, who cares? How does that make him biased? I'm loving Risen no matter what the reviews here say, you should do the same with your game and just get over it.

I was surprised too when I saw the poor score for Divinity 2.... then I played the demo and understood why. It's brutal, and made even worse by the fact that the original was so good. They dropped the ball pretty hard. Yes he may have been a little harsh in areas, and yes traditionally euro-rpgs have been a little ... different.. from your typical north american games, but the job of a GS reviewer is to give advice on purchasing a product, so it would be useless for him to review it without holding it up and comparing it to similar product offerings on the market... and it really doesn't stand up to the games that are out there. All that being said, who even reads GS reviews or takes reviews of any kind seriously? I won't even look at a review if it isn't video, and even then I'll largely ignore what they have to say. Outside of a demo I find the best indication for how fun a game is going to be is either random gameplay videos on Gametrailers or the Giantbomb Quicklooks (which can be a bit silly at times, but they at least show you unedited gameplay footage as a player would experience the game).

Kevin's the best reviewer left on Gamespot and alongside Mechberg and Calvert is one of the few editors with personality. And based on Giantbomb's quicklook and the demo, Divinity 2 is garbage. Don't shoot the messenger.

In all fairness to Divinity2, I to didnt like the demo but the full game is alot better. Just my opinion, Demo was average at best, but the final game is actually pretty enjoyable. Definatly has some issues, but also does some things very well.

I dont really think people are HATERS or FANBOYS, its just that people like differnt kinds of games.

For me I can overlook the difficulty, unpolished issues with Divinity2 and appreciate the fact that the game has TONS of missions, a decent story and some amazing music.

I do agree with alot of the things Kevin said in his review, just some of his problems didnt bother me as much and I would have given the game a bit of a higher score, but it is a very well written review imo.

No while you where talking about the demo and how bad it ran on your PC I was talking about the full version and how it ran on my pc. Thats why that convo was ridicolous because I was talking about the full retail game and you were talking about a demo, two completely differnt things.

The demo doesnt run as well as the full version and the demo doesnt show the fact that the game has a crazy amount of missions to do and some great music. It just shows a small portion of the game.

I dont have any problem with Kevins review at all, its a great written review.. and unlike you, he actually played the full game so I can take his opinion seriously.

Empire Total War demo I hated but I liked the final version. It also ran much better in the retail version when compared to the demo. A demo isnt always a good respresentation of a game.

The reviews on GameSpot are a joke anyways who cares. So many great games here have gotten bashed because they are reviewed by total nooblits.

Examples:

Mount & Blade

Monster Hunter games for the PSP

Yeah KVO is the best reviewer on the site. Doesn't mean you have to agree with everything he says but I consider him a legitimate critic of the videogame medium :P.

I've to agree that some reviewers(nor necessarily only GS) tend to easily overlook glaring or similar issues that plagued games from reputable studios/publishers. In the end, its just one guy's opinion anyway. They are definitely not there to make decisions for you. But other than that, I don't really put much stock in scores and stuffs and I usually don't take the judgement of a single reviewer when deciding if a game is worth my time. I prefer to take stock of what multiple reviewers (official and normal gamers) and youtube is also a good source coz normal gamers like post frap vids that shows gameplay and stuff.

I think Kevin V is easily the best reviewer GS has (much better than Gerstmann and Kasavin) both in judging a game and in writing style. I do get the feeling that reviewers in general are more tolerant of the faults in games with hype.

not really. i've been seeing a bunch of public positive opinion and threads downright condemning critics like the plague for giving it a low score, but in my experience with the demo, i'd say that i agree with the lower scores. i like cheering for the underdog in gaming, but Divinity 2's an exception.
