My biggest problem with his (and others on this sites) reviews is that they make excuses and exceptions for mistakes and oversights in AAA games but in games that aren't maybe as good or polished they will burn for similar problems.
Kevin is THE only reviewer on gamespot that I enjoy.
Even though I dissagree with his scores sometimes, his reviews are ALWAYS written very well and he has reasons for his scores.
Sure I dissagree with his scores for Divinity2 and Risen, but its all opinion anyways, so no big deal.
Kevin is the only reviews i look forward to on gamespot these days since Greg and Jeff left.
Agreed, 100%, with everything you just said.Kevin is THE only reviewer on gamespot that I enjoy.

I honestly can't stand him most of the time. I hate when he tries to be funny because it ends up being so painful to watch and results in cringing.
Absolutely agree with ya!Kevin is THE only reviewer on gamespot that I enjoy.

Don't get angry with a review just because you wasted your money on a crappy game.coulyI LOVE it. You are so right hahaha. Also, I am getting sick of Divinity 2 fanboys pouting over the fact their game is not all that good.
[QUOTE="kozzy1234"]Agreed, 100%, with everything you just said.yeh my favourite tooKevin is THE only reviewer on gamespot that I enjoy.

I was surprised too when I saw the poor score for Divinity 2.... then I played the demo and understood why. It's brutal, and made even worse by the fact that the original was so good. They dropped the ball pretty hard. Yes he may have been a little harsh in areas, and yes traditionally euro-rpgs have been a little ... different.. from your typical north american games, but the job of a GS reviewer is to give advice on purchasing a product, so it would be useless for him to review it without holding it up and comparing it to similar product offerings on the market... and it really doesn't stand up to the games that are out there. All that being said, who even reads GS reviews or takes reviews of any kind seriously? I won't even look at a review if it isn't video, and even then I'll largely ignore what they have to say. Outside of a demo I find the best indication for how fun a game is going to be is either random gameplay videos on Gametrailers or the Giantbomb Quicklooks (which can be a bit silly at times, but they at least show you unedited gameplay footage as a player would experience the game).denter21
In all fairness to Divinity2, I to didnt like the demo but the full game is alot better. Just my opinion, Demo was average at best, but the final game is actually pretty enjoyable. Definatly has some issues, but also does some things very well.
I dont really think people are HATERS or FANBOYS, its just that people like differnt kinds of games.
For me I can overlook the difficulty, unpolished issues with Divinity2 and appreciate the fact that the game has TONS of missions, a decent story and some amazing music.
I do agree with alot of the things Kevin said in his review, just some of his problems didnt bother me as much and I would have given the game a bit of a higher score, but it is a very well written review imo.

You were harping all over the place about the Demo.[QUOTE="kozzy1234"][QUOTE="denter21"]I was surprised too when I saw the poor score for Divinity 2.... then I played the demo and understood why. You were harping all over the place about the Demo.No while you where talking about the demo and how bad it ran on your PC I was talking about the full version and how it ran on my pc. Thats why that convo was ridicolous because I was talking about the full retail game and you were talking about a demo, two completely differnt things.
The demo doesnt run as well as the full version and the demo doesnt show the fact that the game has a crazy amount of missions to do and some great music. It just shows a small portion of the game.
I dont have any problem with Kevins review at all, its a great written review.. and unlike you, he actually played the full game so I can take his opinion seriously.
Empire Total War demo I hated but I liked the final version. It also ran much better in the retail version when compared to the demo. A demo isnt always a good respresentation of a game.
i love KVO's reviews. I think they are very well written, but not only that they're fun. He has made some create video reviews.
KVO is about the only good reviewer they have left. Sure, hes no Greg Kasavin or Alex Navarro, but hes really all GS has.
Yeah KVO is the best reviewer on the site. Doesn't mean you have to agree with everything he says but I consider him a legitimate critic of the videogame medium :P.
[QUOTE="bulletsword"]Is it just me, or is Divinity 2 becoming the most overrated underrated PC game of all time? *sighs*mo0ksiYou're basing this off one thread? not really. i've been seeing a bunch of public positive opinion and threads downright condemning critics like the plague for giving it a low score, but in my experience with the demo, i'd say that i agree with the lower scores. i like cheering for the underdog in gaming, but Divinity 2's an exception.
