Steel Series Ikari Mouse + Steel series Merc Gaming Keyboard

Currently am using the above mentioned keyboard & mouse however I'm thinking about shifting to Razor products since the seem of better quality/design.

Planning on getting the following:- Razor Orochi Elite Mouse + Razor Black Widow Ultimate keyboard

Had the chance to try them out for a short while at a local shop and both feel better (imo)..

So what are you currently using? and also what do you think fo the Razor products I'm interested in getting?

Thanks for your feedback...

I'd go for a Razer mouse and a Logitech keyboard personally. The Black Widow keys are too light and poorly tactile - instead it's loud.

I have a cheap logitech keyboard (don't see the point in owning an expensive one really) and an MX518 mouse. Great Price/quality, couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Anything Logitech, I'll always be using Logitech :P. G15 and MX Revolution + G9 x atm (don't really use the G9 x tho, got it for games, but I prefer the MX R a lot more)

There is no real need to buy a more expensive keyboard or mouse, other than how they feel. I bought a Rat 7, which is great because I can customize it to fit my hand better. As for keyboards, they're all really the same, except for how they look. Or you would need to buy a mechanical one, which apparently feels better.

No, gaming Keyboards like Logitech brand have extra features such as:

- Macro keys

- Heavy duty gaming keys which lasts longer than other keyboards

- Some Logitech gaming KBs have Gaming Chip inside them which lets you press more than 3 keys at a time

I honestly believe that a good gaming keyboard can somehow improve the gameplay experiece.. However I do think that mice make much more of an impact in performance compared to keyboards..

Only the first applies to more expensive keyboards. Any keyboard Logitech makes is high quality, even the cheap ones, they're as durable as their expensive keyboards as for pressing keys at the same time, it's not exactly like that, cheap Logitech keyboards can do up to 5 (cheaper can do 4), expensive ones however take that to 6 or 7.

Ill go for mechanical kb for those, last longer than any rubberdomes and most of them have nkro that doesnt lockup the keys at all even if you sat on all the keys simultaneously.

Im waiting for mr jiggly's recommendation on $10 ms mouse.

Personally my mouse space only consist of 7x9in ish dimension so a sensitive mouse like laser ones are a must. I have logitech mouse with razer kb.

Forgot about the macro keys. But the heavy duty gaming keys seems like a bunch marketing lines, I can't imaging breaking the keys. And the number of key presses varies from keyboard to keyboard, but if you really want to press more keys, you should get a mechanical one. Still most of the pros of a keyboard can be identified by looking at it.

Logitech G500 mouse and a Microsoft Sidewinder. Actually, there are plenty of different and awesome keyboards, but for mice I'd say the G500 is almost unbeatable.

Just get the wheel mouse optical if you don't need anything other than the regular buttons. It's just as good if not better than expensive mice at tracking.

i would not recommend the razer orochi. i have one and it's so small for my small hands it makes the right side of my right hand hurt. it also has an ambidextrous design, which i personally hate. i have a logitech g9 and even though ive tried many different mice none of them feel as comfortable. i can use that mouse for hours on end without ever feeling under strain. as for the keyboard... i don't really care that much bit i slightly prefer my microsoft sidewinder x6.

I don't think it matters that much. I was playing Unreal Tournament 99 instagib professionally on a ballmouse whilst most players had switched to optical/laser. What is most important in a mouse is the ergonomics. A good shaped mouse will improve aim much more so than any other gimmicks. Next important aspect is the surface which the mouse is used on. Don't expect to aim well on a surface with no grit which allows the mouse to slide around too much.

Keyboard. Doesn't matter. Logitechg15 is a basic plain keyboard with loads of gimmicks. But then there are mechanical keyboards which are more enjoyable to use. But in terms of performance I can't see how any of these keyboard improve performance on any video game.

My keyboard is just the same one I have had for years, an old Dell media keyboard. It has lasted longer than expected. I like it because the keys are close together and I have small hands. I did get a G400 mouse though. From what I have read it isjust a rename ofMX518, but it is much better than the old ball mouse I had. I've gotten so used to the logitech mouse shape I don't think I will ever switch to razr mouse.

I have a Razor DeathAdder 3500dpi, got it for $42. I love the feel of the mouse, I use to have a Deathadder voodoo edition, 1800dpi, but it started double clicking way too much.

Keyboard I have a Saitek Eclipse I. Red Illuminated, but in the future, I am upgrading to a Steel Series Merc Stealth, because it offers: the angle I am looking for (with the directional buttons on the left). Sometimes the way I sit while I game I wish I could have the keyboard angled for typing, and the other part (WASD replacement) slightly flared to counter it, and it is illuminated and offers the colors I like. Plus its only $60, but I will wait for it to go on sale.

Honestly you don't need an expensive top of the line gaming model mouse or keyboard. Main thing is find one that is most comfortable for you, other features come afterwards, like Illuminated keys. Which I will not give up, I love them too much.

I have a Acer keyboard and a Logitech mouse. If I had the money I would go for something better obviously. Maybe that 250€ keyboard that was shown at CES and the 150€ mouse. I think they were from Madcatz or Razer, I don't know.

Logitech and Razer.

I have a notable collection of Logitech devices, including the Z-5500 5.1 speaker system, the Di Novo, Di Novo 2.0 and the KT 800 keyboards and around 4 mices, plus a Razer Mamba mouse and a Saitek R.A.T. 9 mouse.

So far I'm currently using the Logitech KT 800 as keyboard and a Razer Mamba as main mouse; none of them are perfect but imo are better than the other ones. I also use a SteelSeries L5 mousepad.

skrat_01

I love my Deathadder mouse, but my Lycosa has been giving me problems. Keys would freeze on me so I returned it back to Newegg. Got another one. Didn't do it for awhile and of course after my 30 day warranty, it starts happening again. Hasn't happened for a month or so, so I'm hoping I have the right firmware to work (latest firmware gave me the initial issues).

I would not recommend the Lycosa to anyone.

any keyboard works for me. i dont use macros or anything. great brands for mice are logitech and razer. im a logitech G9 user. if it dies, im getting the current gen G9x. razer is cool because they have a cloud service which stores your razer peripheral settings on a cloud so it will have the same settings you have customized on it when you use your gear on other PCs.

Switched to a Logitech G400 (renamed Mx518) in late December. Before that I was using the same Mx510 for about five years.
I choose the G400, or the G500 if you're interested. I'm used to the weight and features of the Mx510/G400 so I stuck with that model.

Maybe another model would be better depending on how you hold the mouse, but I like those ones.

For keyboards I've got a backlit Logitech one. Really like it, but the software messed with other programs so I really only use the default keys, volume control, and the backlight. Haven't installed them since switching to Windows 7, so maybe they'll work better now.
It's weird that a backlight can help when the room's dark when you don't actually need to look at the keyboard, but it seems nice :p

I like the Razer Mice, had one of their keyboards though and it was terrible, cost like £60 which is around $100, felt like garbage and I sent it back for a refund. got a G19 and never looked back, still rocking it after a year, the backlight adjustment is incredible and the screen is really cool.

Razer DeathAdder is the best mouse. That and the Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical. I use a Razer Goliathus Control oversized and some old grey keyboard that says 'JDI' on it. You guys ought to check out the esreality mousescore: http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1265679 The guy discovered that a whole lot of supposedly 'high quality' gaming mice have defects in them.

The Deathadder is the most comfortable mouse I've used out of all the mice I've owned and probably the only mouse that doesn't strain my hands after long gaming sessions. I'm able to pixel point quite easily and even when I play on ultra low sensitivities and have to pick up the mouse and move it again, it's still quite comfortable.

I'll pick up a Deathadder then. Thank you very much for the response. :) Price is a bit steep, but I'm assuming it will last me years and years for FPS gaming.
