L4D2 Questions.

Hello all.

I am quite new to PC gaming. I have had my rig about a month now. I have never played anything multiplayer on the PC. I was thinking of getting L4d2 and 1 now from steam. Is this a game I can play solo and still have fun? How does multiplayer work on steam? I know this is a pretty lame thread but any help would be appreciated. I have not touched my xbox since I got this thing:p

Also, if I get these games should I get lfd1 first?

I wouldn't reccomend playing L4D by yourself. You can play with bots, but that gets old quick. Steam doesn't factor in much with the multiplayer, other than finding people on your Friends list to play with. All the matchmaking is usually done though the game.

If you only get one, just get L4D2. Its simply built off the original, and improves on it. No real need to play the original for context either.

You're right. But it seemed every game I joined in L4D I would be voted out of the match. Just for making one mistake.

Hmm? I've found other players to be very accomodating. In Versus/Scavenge there's a higher level of competition, and a little more animosity towards players who don't know what they are doing, but overall I find people are generally helpful.

This is true and pretty much the reason I don't play either online much anymore. Usually the servers I'd been kicked from also banned people that got kicked. So theres quite a few servers I can't even play on anymore just because some idiot started a vote against me for playing the game and making tiny mistakes. Its pretty pathetic.

Seriously, some guy got pissed at me because I didn't pull a survivor off a roof while I was a smoker. He was yelling at me as he was dead and then I was banned. >_>

I remember one time I was smoker and these guys were yelling at me to 'quickly, quickly, get by the door and pull' 'quick! hurry up!'on No Mercy part 3, of course I had no idea which door they were talking about because they didn't say which one. So I went to the door nearest the survivors and pulled one but then got killed by another survivor a few seconds later.

Yeah, pretty much they hailed me with serious insults over their mics, kicked me and got me banned from the server.

Hah. I'm tough man, it's just funnier to hear them getting mad at you over a video game. :P

I think people do get more angry but mainly because the game relies on teamwork so if you just wander about aimlessly/not look out for teamates it can be frustrating.
