http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/left4dead2/video/6238431/gabe-newell-today-on-the-spot-extended-interview

"Left 4 Dead 2 actually... for people who've joined the boycott group on Steam. We can look at their preorders and they're actually preordering the product at a higher rate then Left 4 Dead 1 owners who weren't in the boycott"

Judas!!!

With the new game containing over 25 new maps, several new infected characters, changing level design, allegedly 30 new weapons, weather effects that affect how you play the game, new characters and presumably free DLC the boycott has gone on to become a farce.

The leaders of the boycott have been captured and forced to surrender!

The boycott lacked focus. They complained as soon as the game was announced at E3 without researching the game properly or playing it. Valve apparently took the rebel leaders of the boycott to their Dark Tower to show them the game. It was so dumb to attack the aesthetics like the music and the lighting without actually playing the game. A bit like the concept art for Diablo 3.

5 Campaigns. Consider how replayable it was in Versus mode and add to that changing level design. Give it up. The boycott is dead!! Join us and we'll hunt the infected together with an iron fist!!!

Told you so. That boycot was the dumbest thing I'd heard in the gaming community after Jack Thompson lost his licence. Knew it would be bogus.

You've got to remember the only reason they got 40,000 people in the boycott is because they spammed invites to everyone and everybody. Most of those would have been associated with L4D.

I wish they had a snow level. I love snow. :( Is there any way I can let them know I want it?

Either way, I played the demo at least 20 times so far and it's amazing :)

This boycott confuses me. People complain L4D2 should be DLC. By the time Valve rations out the DLC with all of the new features, weapons, and maps the price would probably be around $40.

This baby is going off the charts!!!

I'm not opposed to free stuff obviously, but to demand all of that content - 25 new maps alone - for free, who do these people think they are? It takes time to develop, design and test this stuff.

I agree, vanilla L4D is great, and all I ask a developer after releasing a game is to release patches (for technical issues) and to support the community, to an extent (generally an SDK).

Free stuff is, like you said, all well and good but you cant demand it lol.

the picture of the bridge was the best one a shame blizzard didn't go for a darker art stlye the game will still be awesome no doubt but it would be better with a darker art ****kinda like Epic mickey. the only game i will be boy cotting and wont buy will be MW2 unless they bring back dedicated servers its a no go at any price. I won't be pirating it as well people who think this will show them would just be proving there point.

I have the first game and I'm not part of this boycott group. I am not planning on buying the second game though since it's just an expansion to the first game. I don't join this boycott group because I say "either buy the game or don't".

lol @ pic.

I don't see what's wrong with demanding such free content. There certainly have been devs (more so in the past, before the DLC thing was so popular) that gave us content updates for free, so it's not an alien concept.

Someone needs to demand it and put some sort of pressure on the devs to stop the trend towards nickel-and-diming us, and if that someone is not us the buyers, then who the hell will it be? I don't have a clue about what kind of time & money Valve put into developing a certain amount of content, and how much free content will boost sales of the base product, but I'm not their accountant and as such that's not my concern and neither should it be yours. See what I'm getting at?

Free stuff is, like you said, all well and good but you cant demand it lol.

One can demand as much free stuff as they want, doesn't mean they'll actually get it.

As for the game, bargain bin pickup for me. The original lacked an real re-playability in my opinion, once you did it twice you've seen it all. The Vs. matches consisted of the same old BS tactics pretty much every time and they actually made the actions of the Director less random after a few patches, (making the tanks spawn equal for both both sides 98% of the time as an example, weapons spawned in identical places). This game actually looks decent and really the original should have been what this one is , however I'm still kicking myself for spending $50 on the first one so I'll wait it out a bit.

And the boycott, retarted as are all boycotts in which a game in the primary focus.

Meh, still wont be buying left4dead2, I bought the first left 4 dead at full retail price as soon as it came out because I knew valve would do a bang-up job with future content. I still feel betrayed, all we have is survivor mode and a puny thrown together campaign. I wont be buying this one full-retail price, I'm going to just wait till a bargain comes around.

Yeah, I don't really have any plans on purchasing it yet either. I probably will if some of my friends get it, but I'm enjoying Borderlands co-op much more than I did l4d at any point. I never really liked L4D in the first place because the normal zombies were so weak and the gameplay was too 'arcady.' I was also frustrated that it took Valve nearly forever to release the ability to search/join mod games. Now that it's out, I see no reason to purchase L4D2 when I can play much more unique and imaginative maps made by players. L4D2 sounds like it fixes some of that, but I still prefer Nazi zombies over L4D for some reason.

They were boycotting because they felt that there should be DLC for the original game, rather than having to pay full price for the sequel. The boycotters are trying to claim victory here by saying they pressured Valve into releasing DLC - I strongly doubt they had anything to do with it. This whole thing seems out of focus - in that article they claim they weren't actually boycotting the sequel but just putting pressure on Valve - so was it a separate boycott that took potshots at the aesthetics of the sequel then? Like the lighting and the music?

Wait so they were boycotting cause they wanted DLC not a L4D2 and then people think they were boycotting something else? :? >_> Thats kinda cute though, trying to make a game turn into a DLC....nice try i guess >_>

Well its been confirmed that they're not done with the original survivors. There's an interview with the guy who voices Louis - the guy who sounds a bit like me!! - who has stated that he's recorded new stuff.
