LAN + Co Op + Bots = Fun

Looking for some great games for LAN, 2-8 players, teamwork type of stuff, good AI, playable campaign is a plus, any genre but prefer FPS. Maybe some good race games, or head to head stuff..

Current games we are playing include:

Star Wars Battlefront II

Rise Of Nations + Thrones

UT2004

Joint Ops + Escalation

Neverwinter Nights (Platinum Edition)

Rainbow Six Vegas

Frontlines Fuels Of War

GR Advanced Warfighter

Played SWAT 4 Single player and liked it, never tried on LAN, never even looked @ the MP part really...Str8jackitz

It's pretty much identical to the singleplayer except instead of AI it's just your LAN partners. And it has a very fun "Team Deathmatch" mode as well where you get 5 points for arresting the enemy and 1 point for killing them.

Str8Jackitz, if you guys have Half-Life 2 then I recommend a mod called The Hidden, it doesn't have bots or co-op or anything of the sort (except co-operating a survival against the hidden :D ) but trust me it's some of the most fun i've ever had at a LAN playing this game. You won't regret bringing this little gem of a mod to your LAN.

It's almost like being Predator (The Hidden) thats really fast but with limited weapons but really strong if used well, It's 1 player as the hidden vs all and you might think you are trying to play survival as the hidden class but really it's the marines that need to coordinate to survive against you. 6-8 players is plenty enough to get a game going, 4 might work but once one of you becomes an expert as the hidden class he will take you guys down easy.

ArmA or Armed Assault can be pretty fun co-op and challenging and you guys can create missions for eachother to accomplish.

Swat 4 is not a bad choice and even the older Rainbow 6: Raven Shield would be good for those squad based FPS's.

If by chance you guys have never played Diablo 2 it's still a really great game to play at a LAN despite the way outdated graphics, it's still by far one of the best hack and slash RPG's.

Supreme Commander is a pretty good choice for an RTS LAN but you may need some pretty good computers as 4 players vs 4 AI can get quite choppy with older PC's.

Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War RTS series is also a great choice for an RTS LAN and the AI is very challenging.

I know there are some more games I just can't think of right now but i'll get back to you if I remember them, I know exactly how you feel looking for new co-op games as I have a small LAN party with a group of my friends every other weekend.

I'm playing exactly the same way with 3 friends. I have a list of games that are really fun in coop:

Serious Sam 2 with Insamnity Mod: Play serious sam 2 like Serious Sam second encounter, I mean unlimited lives and friendly fire.

Sins of a solar empire: Make a custom map with all your friends in the same solar system. Games can be very long.

Unreal Tournament 3: CTF with vehicles add a nice and needed team-play (hover-board and the kind of ray that makes you follow a vehicle)

You can also try these games (or at least try to get more informations about them).

When you play GRAW 1 coop with just 2 players can you have bots fill in the other 2 slots? If not, is the game too frustrating and hard to play with just 2 players, or does it adjust the difficulty accordingly?

Are the answers the same for GRAW 2?

Oh the CS:S bots aren't that bad.

Serious Sam: Gold is your game if you want to play through a single player campaign with your friends. It supports up to 16 players over LAN or online and the game is really inexpensive. If you choose to buy this game then purchase the Gold edition because it comes with two games. Serious Sam: The First Encounter and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, if you are a fan of oldschool FPS action these games will keep you and your friends busy for a very long time. smokeydabear076
