well im having a problem i just bought another computer and my brother and i bought a cross over cable to play diablo 2 together and we can host a game and play for a little awhile but one of us keeps getting disconnected i have no idea why thxWesker_ubc
Nothing you can do about that you see Blizzard only sees one of your computers if you are online.
If you are using a crossover cable to connect 2 systems, then the networking poperties are going to look different that the properties of a system connected to a router. The game might be programmed to look for another machine given the IP, subnet mask, and gateway it sees. That will lookdifferent to the game, given your setup. So, get a router.
Games should never care what subnet and subnet mask you are using. I mean if they did people on class A networks or Class B networks could never play games. Though the idea of a crossover cable never seemed like a good one to me.If you are using a crossover cable to connect 2 systems, then the networking poperties are going to look different that the properties of a system connected to a router. [QUOTE="YoZbaNaToR"]It must be the wire. What type of wire are you using?teddyrob
He said crossover cable. I've used crossover cable myself and had no problems with it.
That cable could either be a 10BASE-T (Twisted Pair Cable) or a 10BASE-TX (Fast Ethernet Cable), although I doubt the latter, I still believe he has faulty wiring inside the RJ-45's shell. And about the router issue, why not just use a Hub/Bridge? Routers are 3-layer Switches, whereas Bridges are only 2-layer. If he gets a bridge it would be cheaper. But the cheapest and fastest is no doubt the Crossover Cable. I've got a LAN set-up with a couple of friends, and we use Bridges for our connection. If our PC's were close together, we would have just went with the fastest and most reliable transmission media: The Twisted Pair (Fiber Optic would be overkill for our demand), just like the TC has done. Please Log In to post.
