Anything from the late nineties, just because the graphics are dated doesnt mean the game sucks

I have just about the same laptop but I have more a tad bit more Ram. You can get anything from about 2004 and below. I got Serious Sam 2 working, GTA games work, Call of Duty works fine, BF2 and most low settings works. WoW works well. What kind of Vid card you running?

I'm not sure about the video card, I think it's just an integrated one with something like 32MB memory or something like that not sure though

If it's anything like mine it might be a 128 ATI 200M Series. Everything else on your laptop is like mine so I think it might be the same. I would also do Counter Strike Source that works well. Half Life 2 and Half Life 1 work. TF2. And also Swat 4 is a lot of fun.

canyourunit.com it should tell you what you can and cant run or you can just quickly run a scan and it will tell you what kind of video card you're packing.

It's almost been 6 years since it's release, but it's still a classic, Warcraft III. It should run quite well on your system.

I just looked on canyourunit.com and I saw the Indigo Prophecy will run on my laptop so it should be able to run on yours and I'm getting myself a copy now and I remember doing the PS2 demo and it was good so I thought it might be worth checking it out. I looked on the web site canyourunit.com and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas will work. also if you like RTS's Company of Heroes works as well.

He does not have an ATI or nVidia graphics chipset, he has:

Intel GMA X3100 384MB DDR2 SDRAM Shared memory, which as far as intel chipsets go, is actually not bad.

I checked several sites and all point to the same chipset.

I would be skeptical at best if your computer will run GTA Vice City let alone GTA San Andreas.

Doom 3...No.

Far Cry, yes at lower settings

Source Games, yes at low to medium settings

Unreal Tournament 2004, yes.

Fear, yes.

You will find yourself playing most of these games at 800x600, or 640x480 to be playable, but there is the key, they will be playable. So have fun.

I would treat your laptop as an older desktop, since most laptops do not perform as well as their desktop counterparts anyway, you have what would be more suited to a general use computer, as for gaming well, I would stick to some of your older favorites if you want hi-res, hi-framerates. This is really not bad for a $500-$600 laptop.

Oh, the only thing I could suggest to help you get more out of your laptop would be adding memory.

I agree on the more memory. I added another gig to mine making it about 1.5 gigs of ram for only 50 bucks.

Baldur's Gate II

Diablo II

Civ 3

Starcraft

Command and Conquer Red Alert 2

I've found that old sprite based games actually seem to hold up better than early 3D games.

wow, thats releiving. i just got a laptop with that same card, the x3100 (link: http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspnnb_1525?c=ca&cs=cadhs1&l=en&s=dhs, it's the middle one, 740$ i think) and i'm releived to know i will be able to run some older games. i was concerned that even games like call of duty 1, or morrowind wouldn't run, but it looks like i'll be ok with those games.

My laptop is nowhere near your spec (dual core T2230, 512mb ram, 60gb hdd, Intel 950GMA integrated graphics), and I can run the following, all on my lappy at the moment (before gaming I go into task manager and end all process that are not vital, it frees up some ram as I need it!).

GTA San Andreas (800x600, all settings lowest, draw distance 50%, runs surprisingly smoothly! A 950GMA CAN run this smoothly).

Operation Flashpoint (1024x768, normal settings, draw distance 900m and runs great)

Swat 4 (800x600, medium detail, everything else lowest, struggles with a lot onscreen due to lack of ram)

Aliens vs Predator 2 (1024x768 runs superb)

Call of duty (1024x768 runs superb, textures normal detail)

Now my crappy graphics card isn't as good as yours (128mb shared with the system ram, so ingame I'm getting less than 384mb to run everything else!) and if mine can do the above I'd be very surprised if yours can't!

Bits of advice I would personally give are

1/upgrade your ram to 2gb (mine is in the post) as it will certainly help!

2/before gaming go into task manager and end all processes that are not required (if your lappy isn't on a network you could get away with disabling your antivirus as they tend to hog ram) to free up as much ram as possible.

3/obvious one, make sure you have the latest drivers for your lappy's graphics card.

I just recently bought Rise of Nations and while it looks a bit dated its a great game.It should run fairly well your laptop.

The game is seriously challenging, particularly when compared to Rise of Legends.

I dont think the Orange Box's requirements are high at all and it is the greatest collection of games of all time!
